On your visit to the plantation, be sure to join the tea-picking activity. Before this, a traditional worship of Lord Ganesh is conducted at a nearby kovil. You’ll be provided with a basket for picking tea, along with a small mottu. If you want to immerse yourself in the experience, consider dressing in the traditional tea plucker wear - a saree or sarong.
Take time to absorb the awe-inspiring vistas of unending green landscapes, tea farms and the encompassing countryside at our Sky Café, poised on a 300m high hilltop, approximately 1300m above sea level.

Plucking tour - I made the tea plucking Tour. It was very interesting and I had a lot of fun. Sallay Was my guide. He is the best. I told us everything we want to know and even more. I definetly recommend it

Wonderful experience - To start off, the views from the plantation were insane. Our tour guide, Sallay was delightful. He was well informed, gave excellent explanations and made the experience very memorable. He’s also a great photographer for those travelling alone 😋

very good insights on the daily live of pickers - Our tour guide Sallay gave us very good insights on the daily live of pickers. He and his assistant explained everything very interestingly in detail. We Really enjoyed the experience of picking for 20 minutes our own and the tour!

Brilliant and fun day out! - The scenery was stunning, the tour provided by Lahiru was very informative and interesting learning about the tea plantation, the history of tea and then we got to learn the skill of tea picking from Pushpa who is very experienced and kind, she showed us around the tea fields. We had a lot of fun.

Perfect experience! - The tour was amazing! We got the tour from Siva and he showed us the whole process of the tea factory. The whole tour lasted around an hour.

Halpe Tea plantation - Very nice experience to have. Great guide who taught us the tricks of the trade. Being able to take lots of beautiful photos and taste incredibly delicious local tea.

Ella black tea factory with Master Siva. - If you are in Ella you must visit the tea factory.
It’s really interesting to see how our tea becomes tea.
Mister Siva made the experience really entertaining and easy to understand. He really is the master of tea with his 40 years of experience.

Well worth a visit - Interesting tour understanding the planting, growing and then harvesting tea
Followed by a tasting, explaining of the different teas

Good trip - Good fun for a short trip out of Ella. Short but interesting talk about the tea, the leaves and the methods.
Picking the tea was great fun and eye opening.
Easy to take a Tuk-Tuk (15mins) there and back for around $10
