Fantastic - Great day with our guide Ana Maria who met us at the hotel right on time, showed us Guatape and got us tickets to climb the rock so we didn't have to wait in line. We then visited Guatape village which is so wonderful and colourful and then made our way to the coffee farm which we absolutely loved - so interesting to see the entire process. One of our most memorable days in Colombia, thank you again!

Great day - We had a fantastic time with Ana María during our tour. She was a great guide and showed us Guatape rock , the local town where we walked around and had lunch and then a coffee tour. Fabulous day and I would highly recommend the experience.

Loved visit to coffee farm-- thanks Carlos! - Alex and Carlos were great help setting up a private full-day visit to a small coffee farm near Guatape, visit to the town and hike of El Penol "the rock". The view from the top is amazing. Carlos was our guide and was so friendly, we were so curious about Medellin (history, agriculture, industry, crime) and he was knowledgeable and nice answering all of our questions. The coffee farm visit was definitely a highlight of our entire trip to Colombia. The only drawback is that it's 1.5- 2 hours outside of Medellin and the roads zig-zag uphill and downhill the majority of the drive so it's not exactly relaxing. As tourism seems to be growing in Medellin, I wonder if they will partner with a heli company and offer an upgraded option to take a helicopter instead of the car ride. So much faster, avoid the crazy roads and I can only imagine how beautiful it would be to see all of the coffee farms and beautiful terrain from above.

Great private tour from Medellin! - I took this tour by myself with Carlos as my guide. He picked me up from my hotel in the morning and we enjoyed a full day driving to El Penol (the town), a coffee farm tour to La Rivera, climbed up El Penon (the rock), and then enjoyed lunch and the colors of Guatape. Carlos provided good information throughout the day...I'd recommend this as a great day trip from Medellin!

We traveled to Medellin from the USA... -
We traveled to Medellin from the USA in mid-April and took two excellent tours with Alex. The private half day Pablo Escobar Godfather tour and the full day private Guatape, Coffee Villa Tour from Medellin which included El Penol.
Alex is truly a renaissance man!! He has a fascinating background and shared his interesting story with us. We covered so many topics and he was well versed in all of them. He speaks perfect English and Spanish and has a roomy, clean, well air-conditioned SUV. He knows and fully understands the culture and history of Colombia. His knowledge is priceless and he shares it all with his guests. A visit to his coffee villa should not be missed.
Our family of four highly recommends Alex for his insights into this amazing country!

Great tour of coffee farm, Guatape, La Piedra, and El Penol! - My friend and I had a packed, informative, gorgeous tour. Our guide Alex, a local by way of LA, gave us a thorough, well-articulated perspective of Medellin, Colombia, and the paisa way. We had a marvelous time and would recommend for anyone interested in seeing the beautiful countrysides of Antioquia.

Great tour! - The tours are definitely are more on the expensive side, but you pay for what you get. Private tour in a SUV, schedule flexibility depending on traffic/lines at the tourist spots, and an awesome tour guide! Alex is well spoken (English is great as he grew up in the US), great insights and personal stories and he knows the city pretty well, so that helps when you're in a traffic jam. He also ensures that you have the best time ie. looking at the lines he suggested we rearrange the schedule going to Guatape to minimize waiting times at the rock and the restaurant. Definitely book a tour with him if your budget allows, you won't regret it!

Had a great day with Alex, he really... -
Had a great day with Alex, he really made it more of an experience than a tour.
Loved the mix of El Piño, Guatape and visiting the coffee villa all in one day.
The place we went to Lunch was great too.

I highly recommend doing these three things together and highly recommend Alex and Medellin Tours.

Very fun way to see a lot in one day - The TLDR: very lovely day getting a lot in, no waterfall, pero ¡vale la pena! We had a very nice time on the trip. Going the private route meant we were in a s car that was very comfortable, safe to leave our bags in, and meant we ran on our own timeline. This is a great way to get a lot of stuff in: la piedra, good views of the lake, guatape, and a coffee farm. By far the coffee farm was the most informative part of the trip. Our guide clearly knew a lot about the process and the experience and family that work the farm we went to was awesome. I’m not sure if taking the tour in English left something to be desired as far as information given or if there just isn’t that much information to give. Guatape is very small, so it’s easy to walk it in just a few minutes if you’re not shopping or taking a million pictures. It’s definitely worth the visit and you could spend hours there if you wanted just looking at every piece of art. Our tour did not include the stop at the waterfall that is mentioned. The road is currently closed for maintanence. Unfortunately this was not communicated to us until we asked about it after the tour. We asked during, and the guide said he’d never made that stop. After asking the company directly the next day, we were told they are working on correcting the description to remove that part of the trip but it hasn’t been updated. It would have been nice to know that beforehand. All in all, we had a lovely day moving at our own pace. The weather was phenomenal. The piedra has awesome views that make you want to hangout by the lake all day. Guatape is adorable and if you are a nerd and a coffee lover, the coffee plantation is a true highlight.
