- Perito Moreno Glacier - After passing by the hotels, the journey continues on Provincial Route N°11 to enter Los Glaciares National Park.
This extraordinary natural wonder was declared a “World Heritage Site” by UNESCO in 1981. The National Park features a stunning landscape of mountains, lakes, and forests, with a significant portion of the Andes Mountains covered in ice and snow to the west, and the arid Patagonian steppe to the east.
- Lago Argentino - Upon reaching the “Bajo las Sombras” port, you will board a ship to cross Lago Rico, arriving at the opposite shore after approximately a 20-minute journey, directly in front of the southern wall of the Perito Moreno Glacier.
For those who opted for the tour without transfers, this is where you will meet your guide, who will provide all necessary instructions.
- Perito Moreno Glacier - Once on land, a brief 20-minute walk begins with a talk about glaciology along the lake’s shore towards the glacier.
On the ice, guides will equip each participant with crampons and provide instructions on walking on the ice. During the approximately 1:30 hour walk on the glacier, you will witness a variety of ice formations, including cracks, glacier mills, and small ponds.
The trekking difficulty is moderate. The ice surface is uneven but firm and safe. Information about the flora and fauna, as well as the unique phenomenon that occasionally causes the Perito Moreno Glacier to rupture, will be shared.
- Pasarelas Perito Moreno - After the ice trek and a 20-minute boat ride back to the port, if you selected the option with transfers, the tour includes a visit to the walkways of Los Glaciares National Park.
Here, you can enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views of the Glacier and explore some of the self-guided trails.
If you chose the option without transfers, the walkways are not included, and you will need to visit them independently.
- El Calafate - In the afternoon, after exploring the walkways and taking in the stunning views of the Glacier, the tour returns to the hotels in El Calafate.
