Highlights
  • Rosslyn Chapel - Our first stop is Rosslyn Chapel. Scotland’s \’best-kept secret\’ has now achieved worldwide fame since the publication of \’The Da Vinci Code\’. An architectural gem, its superb stone carvings are still not fully understood. Further mystery surrounds the chapel and its association with the Knights Templar and Freemasonry. Many visitors leave with their own theory but all are amazed. The short walk through the glen to ancient Roslin Castle is also fascinating.
  • Melrose Abbey - Enjoy lunch in the charming town of Melrose. The stunning ruined Abbey is the final resting place of King Robert the Bruce’s heart.
  • Carter Bar - Cross the ancient Scotland/England border at Carter Bar, a wonderful viewpoint in the Cheviot Hills.
  • Housesteads Roman Fort - Hadrian’s Wall - Hadrian’s Wall is the best-known frontier of the Roman Empire and a magnificent reminder of one of the world’s greatest civilisations. Built almost 2000 years ago to contain the fierce Picts in Caledonia it stretches for 73 miles and was designated a World Heritage Site in 1987. You stop at Housesteads Fort in Northumberland National Park, the best preserved Roman fort along Hadrian’s Wall. Here you’ll enjoy a nature walk along one of the most dramatic and photographed stretches of the wall.
  • Jedburgh Abbey - On route back to Edinburgh, you will stop in the Border market town of Jedburgh to stretch your legs and for photos of the famous Abbey.

Great tour, great tour guide! - Awesome trip for those who love history! Our driver, Euan, was particularly knowledgeable and accommodating. We had one person slip on mud while walking the wall and a child that got car sick on our tour. He was kind and courteous in both situations. Having said that, this is a mobility challenging trip as there is an additional charge of 11 GBP to the property if you want to remain on the stable path, as opposed to walking through the pasture. The fee for Rosslyn Chapel was 9 GPB for an adult. Euan was by far, the best tour director we encountered on our holiday! He loves his work and it shows!

Beautiful views - What a beautiful trip. The tour guide arrived 5 minutes late (8:35am). The only thing we would have liked is for the tour guide to have looked at the weather and maybe alter the order of which we dis our stops. When we got to Hadrian’s wall it was pouring down raining whereas in the morning it hadn’t rained and since that is 100% outdoors it would have been nice to do that first.

Nice day away from Edinburgh - Keith was a very informative guide and driver. It was great to see all the sites, although the Abbey was closed, so could only see from afar. There were plenty of stops and breaks for trip.

Incredible Knowledgable Guide who Caters Tour to Group - We had an AMAZING time on our tour with Keith! He was so knowledgeable about the history of Scotland, of the sites we were visiting, and he constantly checked in with us to make sure we were all comfortable on the long stretches of driving to and from Hadrian’s wall. For some, it may be a bit too much commentary, but you could wear headphones. For my family of history nerds, it was PERFECT! He wove together history and fun anecdotes, and he even through in trivia questions which were quite fun. As an an autistic person, I really appreciated how he answered all of my questions and welcomed my added knowledge and appreciation of the sites. Rather than asking me to stop interrupting, he turned the tour into a conversational dialogue between him and our tour group and I felt this went above and beyond and that he was the absolute perfect guide for someone like me, or anyone who enjoys history. He also accommodated our needs and requests. He phoned ahead and was able to drive up to the Roman fort on their exclusive driveway so that those of us with disabilities didn’t have to walk the extended uneven path up from the usual car park. We got very wet and muddy at the wall, so we canceled the 2nd wall viewing stop he had planned next and instead brought us somewhere with toilets and where we could dry off and have some hot beverages. All in all, it was an absolute dream of a tour!

Nice day out of Edinburgh - Colin was fantastic! He started the day by saying that never let facts get in the way of a good story, possibly the most Scottish thing I have ever heard, and then filled the rest of the day with good stories.
