Highlights
  • Midhope Castle - We make our first stop at Midhope Castle, aka Lallybroch - home to Jamie Fraser.
  • Doune Castle - We then visit Doune Castle, one of Scotland’s best preserved medieval castles and used as the setting for Castle Leoch in Outlander. You’ll have time to explore this historic stronghold.
  • Culross - Our journey takes us on to the Kingdom of Fife, an area of great historical importance and the ancestral home of Scottish monarchs. We make a stop at Culross, where Claire was accused of witchcraft in the village of ‘Cranesmuir’. This charming village is the most complete example of a 17th and 18th century burgh in Scotland today.
  • Falkland - After lunch we will continue to the village of Falkland, used for filming 1940’s Inverness. With over 28 listed buildings it gives a good representation of this period.
  • Blackness Castle - Our final stop is at Blackness Castle, the 15th century fortress use to represent Fort William in the show.

Totally Worth the Time - Seeing locations based on the show is great but adding in the true history and stories of the castles and locales makes this a tremendous tour.

Great Outlander tour - We had a great guide (Martin) who was super interesting and relaxed, which is nice as some tour guides make you feel rushed. We had a good amount of time in each location and the big yellow bus was easy to find and comfort. The locations were important to the outlander series and we enjoyed the tipbits of info that Martin gave. We think Martin should be promoted to head guide!

Amazing Outlander tour with Charlie - Loved this tour so much! Decided to try to see some of the filming locations of 'Outlander', and this day trip from Edinburgh was perfect to see a substantial amount of recognizable locations from the show, plus just generally beautiful and historical places. Our guide Chalie was lovely and super knowledgeable about the show and explained all the relevant context for each location we visited (for example Midhope castle, a.k.a. LallyBroch). She also gave us a lot of context relating to the route and the landscape in general, and was always very helpful answering our questions that came up along the way. I also felt very safe on our route with Charlie, who was our guide as well as our driver - having taken other tours in Scotland by other providers I can say that this is not always the case. A personal highlight was our visit to the small village of Falkland, which is the place where 1940s 'Inverness' was filmed in the show, it was so pretty and tranquil. Lastly, the music selection was great, I especially loved hearing Glasgow-based Franz Ferdinand a couple times throughout the bus trip ♡. Would definitely recommend this day tour for any Outlander fans, as well as people interested in historical buildings (mainly castels and small villages) around Fife.

Looking for Jamie Fraser - Charlie was a great guide!! For being a new guide, she did awesome!! She had fun information about areas and folklore. Might need to brush up on Outlander info a little as the diehard fans want more info.

Actual History in Outlander Context - First, it was a wonderful day. Our guide, Cara, gave clear instructions and guidance at the beginning. The meal stop provides options in a very nice town. There were many sites that brought recollection of scenes in seasons one and two.
