We’ll tell you how the process starts, how the industry grew, and all about some of the wacky characters and intriguing stories that helped to make the Scottish whisky industry the finest in the world.
Along the way, we’ll sample whiskies from each of the major whisky producing regions in Scotland, whilst exploring a newly uncovered underground area of Edinburgh.

Just off the Royal Mile, behind St Giles Cathedral on Parliament Square, you will find the CodE Pod Hostel just past the statue of James Braidwood the fireman. The meeting point is inside the hostel reception area, we'll head underground from there.

A MUST DO!! - This was by far one of the best tasting events we have been to. Our guide was very well know of his whiskey.

Small hiccup but host came through - James was very good host. Apologized as I was only one and person doing a different tour called in sick. Had giving me options that I missed and still accommodated me. He did both at same time and kept it very entertaining. I would definitely do this again if James is hosting.

Fun and Informative - I didn’t know we were actualy going to taste whisky in an old prison cell, and I think the environment added to the great company and the whiskies offered for tasting. I am an experienced whisky fan, but still learned a few new things and got totey some things that I didn’t know about. So, this is a great activity even for (moderately) experienced Scotch fans out there.

Excellent - The location was great - very unusual, but also very interesting.
Our host - Padh - was beyond brilliant. Charming, funny, very knowledgeable ... he made it really great.
The choice of whiskies, though, was outstanding. A range of whiskies, none of which I had ever had before (not those particular ages / casks) and each one a treat. Carefully curated, and a very jolly learning experience.
If you get the chance, do this experience. If you like whisky, you'll not regret it!!

A geart way to end a day of sightseeing - The tour started right on time and Patchies ourvguy was not only knowable but very entertaining.. We walked away with a great appreciation for the craftsmanship of whiskey. 10 out of 10.
