11th birthday party - We organised a ghost tour for my son’s 11th birthday. The communication I had with Mercat prior to the gathering was excellent. Our guide was exceptionally good with the group of boys we had and paced it and aimed it perfectly for their age group. She was really good at keeping the boys interested and got some history in too! Just the right level of scary for the boys. Would highly recommend.

Ghost tour - Having lived in Edinburgh for 12 years I am embarrassed to admit I never investigated the history of the city, until my son was focusing on old Edinburgh as a project. This lead me to book this tour for my son and I. Our guide Anastasia was AMAZING, actually she made the experience! She took the time to prepare us for any unsettling information (for my benefit as my son loves the gorey details!!) Her tone of voice, the energy she put in and the knowledge she has resulted in a very enjoyable and interesting day. So much so that I am eagerly booking the historical tour (I hope it will be Anastasia who leads this too!) A definite must do for anyone visiting Edinburgh or like me just wanting to learn more about this amazing city we live in and it's....shall we say gruesome history.

Entertaining and exciting - Our tour guide, Michael was extremely entertaining, and his ability to tell a story was enchanting. He included some physical aspects to the stories which really added to the experience. I was very impressed with this tour.

Immersive storytelling at its best - We loved this tour! Linda was a fabulous, engaging storyteller and the kids were immersed straight away. It was a very worthwhile alternative to the very busy Mary King Close, which was packed in high season. Highly recommend!

Frightening fun! - Fab activity to get a bit of the gory history of Edinburgh without scaring the kids too much, tour guide Naomi was fab, lots of facts and enthusiasm. The vaults are must visit.

my kids words......... You just have to do this because it's fun - The Gory stories ghost tour........ Zeni thank you so much for the tour! The children found it fun and educational to visit the vaults. they still talk about it. Walking in and under a bridge how cool is that! But also a nice tour for adults. This tour was very suitable for children. Quick response to questions and easily accessible via email. The headsets were very nice and comfortable! This way the guide could be heard well, even if you were walking behind.

Gory Stories For Kids was a Winner! - We booked a private Gory Stories for Kids Tour with Stephanie. Our kids (ages 7&11) had a blast on this tour. We learned a lot about the history of living in Edinburgh over the last several hundred years. The vaults are dank and dark, so be prepared for that. We’re still debating if any of us had a brush with the cobbler…
