Our Castle Tour provides an opportunity to bypass the queue into Scotland’s most emblematic stronghold. This 90-minute tour encompasses the 3000-year-old history of Edinburgh Castle and underscores its pivotal role in the formation of Scotland. Tour commences from our starting position located at 192 High Street, near the statue of Adam Smith.

Highlights

Edinburgh Castle - You will be guided through the grounds of Edinburgh Castle. It is worth to note that we can not take you inside any of the Caste Buildings (no tour operator can) but we will give you the rich history of the Castle, it’s place in Scottish history and many of it’s more unusual tales so that after the tour you will be able to explore the Castle with a much deeper understanding than a casual visitor.

Operates in all weather conditions, please dress appropriately.
Although much of the tour is done inside the castle complex, this will not be under cover.
Bags over 30L in volume are not permitted inside the castle and the castle does not provide a locker system for the storage of luggage.

Please Note - Children, aged 15 and under, will not be able to join the tour unless accompanied by a responsible adult
Edinburgh Castle is built on top of the core of an old volcano, the ground is often uneven and at times steep. Be prepared to be on your feet for the full duration of the tour. People with mobility issues may not get the most from this tour.

See the Edinburgh Castle with Graeme. - Graeme was the best story teller and accurate. He was so engaging that the tour felt like 10min. We could’ve listened to and learned from him all day. He truly loves his home city and sharing it with us!

Wonderful Tour - What a fun and entertaining tour. Our tour guide Angus was wonderful. He was super funny, but also knowledgeable. He had us all laughing and learning. It was awesome we timed it to hear the 1pm gun go off. I learned a lot and felt like it was a great way to experience the castle. Because of the tour I knew how I wanted to explore the castle on my own!

Edinburgh Castle walking tour - Graeme was an excellent guide. A native of Edinburgh, he was able to provide a concise and entertaining and educational oral history of Edinburgh Castle at various stops along the Royal Mile and inside the castle property. He described what each of the buildings were used for at various times in history and after about an hour and a half we were free to explore whatever buildings that were open to the public at our own pace.
