Highlights
  • Harvey’s Yard - We start our tour with a stroll into the fabulous forecourt of Harvey’s Brewery. Sussex’s oldest continuously running brewery. We explain the history and its traditional way of working.
  • John Harvey Tavern - It’s then on to the unofficial brewery tap, the John Harvey, a couple of wonderfully kept cask ales from Harvey’s.
  • Beak Brewery - A 15-minute stroll from the John Harvey, taking in some local history en route, leads us to Beak, Lewes’ most well-known and coveted craft beer destination. Expect heavily hopped US-style beers, fantastic food, and seasonal specials, including mixed fermentation and cask ales.
  • ABYSS Brewery + Tap - A 15-minute walk from Beak to the town center takes us to Abyss Brewing, arguably the most popular beer destination. Serving a wide variety of beer, both their own and guest beer, cocktails, and wines, as well as an on-site Mexican food truck, it’s the perfect place to finish and soak in the atmosphere.

Great tour - Excellent tour with some lovely beers from great breweries. Dan the guide really knew his stuff and was able to answer all of the questions that came up, and shared some interesting facts about the area and its beer and pub history.

Highly recommend! - We had a brilliant tour of Lewes breweries with Dan - he's super knowledgeable and entertaining and answered our many questions! Would definitely recommend as a thing to do in Lewes - lots of knowledge also about the beautiful town in addition to the load about beer. Plus, all of the 6, 7, 8(?) different beers that were included were delicious and he was happy to switch out any we didn't want to try. Thank you Dan!

Knowledgeable host with some great taster's - Dan is a very knowledgeable bloke who obviously has a passion for the area and ofcourse the amazing beer the area produces. Everyone knows about Harvey's and quite rightly so, but the two up and coming other breweries we visited produce some amazing products which I will be visiting again on my next nights out in Lewes. I never knew they existed until now and glad that I have 2 new places to eat/drink when I visit the area as these are just not breweries but places to visit to eat/drink. One of the brewers took some time out to explain his journey and answer questions which again shows the customer love these people have. Don't expect to see how the beer is made, and the itninary doesn't suggest it will, but what you will get is a grand tour, alot of history and knowledge and ofcourse various samples of what the area can offer. Book it 🍺🍻

A wonderful beery look into Lewes - 'That’s the Beer Talking' is a superb way of spending time in the picturesque town of Lewes with some top quality beers to boot! Hosted by Dan, this tour will give you an insightful glimpse of the history, and specifically beer history of Lewes, as well as the opportunity to taste some wonderful beers - both old and new - brewed within the town. This tour is wonderfully hosted by Dan; whose insight and passion for beer shines throughout. Anyone interested in beer - with experienced connoisseur or a first timer - will learn a tremendous amount throughout the tour and, most importantly, will have a fun and memorable time. A top quality tour, with a top quality host!

Excellent craft beer tour - The tour was excellent - a really good way to see Lewes and to learn about the best places to eat and drink. Dan was well informed and knowledgeable about the different craft beers we tried and fitted in with our group with plenty of stories and great humour. Strongly recommended.
