Rainforest Adventures St. Maarten: Nature, Thrill, and History in Perfect Harmony - St. Maarten, a vibrant island where cultures meet and landscapes captivate, offered us an unforgettable experience at Rainforest Adventures, a place where lush nature, adrenaline, and history come together in a truly unique way. Aboard the Sky Explorer, we gently ascended to the top of Sentry Hill, one of the highest points on the island. From up there, the view was absolutely breathtaking: a 360° panoramic landscape stretching across Anguilla, St. Barths, and other nearby islands. A peaceful moment, with the wind in our faces and a sense of being on top of the world. We felt the thrill of the Sentry Hill Zipline, a traditional zipline that gave us different perspectives of the island’s tropical beauty as we soared through the sky. But for those seeking an even more intense experience, the main highlight is the Flying Dutchman, the steepest zipline in the world. With a heart-pounding descent at 90 km/h (56 mph), it turns fear into pure exhilaration. Before facing this adventure, we enjoyed a relaxing stop at the mountain top bar with refreshing drinks and unforgettable views. But the park offers more than just adrenaline. We also explored the island’s history at the Emilio Wilson Plantation Museum, located on a former plantation. The museum tells the story of Emilio Wilson and provides meaningful insights into the island’s past and cultural heritage. To wrap up our visit, a stop at the charming Emilio’s Restaurant was the perfect finishing touch. Located in the beautifully restored plantation house, the restaurant welcomed us with a warm atmosphere and a delicious meal. This delicious burger, surrounded by history and tranquility, was the ideal way to end our day. Our visit to Rainforest Adventures was more than just a day of fun: it was a full immersion into the spirit of St. Maarten, filled with moments we’ll remember and share for years to come.

Super fun-not your typical zipline! - Initially the zipline intimidated me by its steepness, but it was not at all unsafe or scary. You actually sit in a seat instead of a harness so it is sort of more like a swing in a sense. You feel super secure and can go down by yourself or next to someone else. My son and I went down side by side. It also records a pretty good video of it. The schooner was more fun than it looks. If I were to go again, I’d probably just do the steep zipline. I feel like I want to do it again so I can pay more attention to what I’m actually seeing because the initial shock of airborne takes a few to wear off when first starting.

Great activity! - This was such a fun activity! The employees work so hard and are very good at making people feel safe. The zip lines were short and sweet with amazing views. The Flying Dutchman was a lot of fun, less scary than it looks! We didn’t stick around for the toboggan but that looked like people had fun too. I read a lot of reviews about how long the waiting was but we didn’t experience that. We got there when they opened and must have lucked out with it not being a cruise day. We had a group of probably 15 ppl we were doing the zip lining with. The longest wait was at the bar at the top, but there was a big group in front of us. The drinks were GOOD! Pro tip, when you get to the top put your groups name on the list before you walk around or get a drink. We were probably there for about 3 hours total including check in. Worth the trip!

An exceptional view .. apart from that! - This is the highest point of the island at 314 meters and I went there by way of an excursion. I took the somewhat tired cable car "Sky Explorer" for a climb in 2 times of about 30 minutes... it's a bit long but the view on arrival 360° is really worth it, especially from the point "the Ultimate Selfie Experience". At the start of the climb (only) you can stop for a descent in buoy, tired too, (interesting for children? ). I did not use the zip line "Flyng Dutchman" which, on the other hand, seemed to me to be a success considering the screams heard sometimes downhill! Downstairs there is a mini exhibition of the history of the place uninteresting and a bar where let's say the motivation of the staff is at its lowest level.

Only the Flying Dutchman is worth it - We did “the big 3”. The schooner Ride (a tube) is very lame. I am not sure that a 6yo would find this fun, let alone an adult. If you have done zip lines elsewhere, skip it here, as other places have longer versions over better terrain. If never done a zipline before, this one is fine, but beware the zips are very short, and only 2 of them. The only thing worth doing is the chair lift to the top, see the views, and take Flying Dutchman down. That was incredibly fun. The staff in all places were super nice and friendly, but all of them begged for tips. If you do all 3, you’ll encounter 10-15 staff, all wanting tips. I just didn’t bring that kind of cash to this. They be better served by a single tip box, at the exit, with a sign saying it’ll be split amongst all staff. We were not there on a cruise-in-port day, or else we would have spent hours and hours there. It took us about 2 hours to do all 3.

Would not recommend - The tube ride was closed so to rain. However looking at the tubes and track from the chair lift it looks shabby. The rainforest zipline, not much of a rainforest to see. I am an American who tips well. I tend to over tip when people are working hard The staff had a tip jar at every station telling us that each section was a separate tip, each staff member asked for a tip and pointed to the jar. The staff at the Flying Dutchman had the tip jars at the point where they strapped us in. If you tipped they were friendly if not they would not look at you. I tipped $20 at first zip line. When I was asked to tip at the Dutchman I was told that that is a different staff. It gave me an unsafe feeling if I was not handing over cash.

Unhappy - The lines were to long, and the walks to thr ziplines were too rough. To hot and only one place to get water.

Waiting time excessive - The tube was boring and not worth the money. The zip line didn’t have enough harnesses and the wait was very long. The third ride was the worst we waited approximately 2 hours. This may be a fun event, but unless you’re willing to stand around for 2 to 3 hours doing nothing it’s not worth it. I do not recommended.
