Great ride great staff - The 2.5 hour trip was perfect. The river had good rapids we got good and wet. The 7 mile 2 and a half hour trip was good especially if you are older. The river beats you up a bit if its running good. It was the day I went, The guides were friendly and professional. They made for a great ride. If you pay attention they will get a good pic of you from the bridge as you pass under.

Creating family rafting memories - We had a great time with Heather who made sure everyone got what they wanted. The crew was very fun and professional Joe the bus driver, Heather, Zach, Matt and Eldon. We got safety tips, equipment and FUN! We will be back next year. Grandkids 6/8 loved it. They were unsure at first but even got out of boat to float. Photos were very nice.

Fun day - Sydney was an incredible guide. She made us feel safe and we had so much fun! She told us facts about the river and described the rapids before we came to them.

Great trip with Sydney - Angus welcomed us with a warm and welcoming attitude, and got us all checked in to start off our great experience. Then Kady assisted us with multiple additional supplies and made my young children very happy. Had a great time with Sydney she was fun and interactive with all of us! Jessica and Lance at the back porch kiosk kicked ass in getting us all the gear and locker keys, and offered us the waters to satisfy the dying of thirst 5yr old lol. And to top it all Michelle the bus driver was a real treat she was funny and very helpful with the life jackets and very funny on the bus trip over. We will definitely be back to do it again!

Had a BLAST - Sidney was THE BEST guide! All of the guides are professional, this course was perfect for our family of 9! Perfect for beginners. Joe, thanks for the great bus ride to and from the river access! We had a blast!

Make a great memory - This was the highlight of our two week vacation with our grandson. Our river guide Eldon navigated expertly. All six boats worked together as we floated down the Animas and enjoyed the beauty. We even saw a hummingbird nest under the bridge. We were drenched with the cold river water when we rafted through the rapids. I have to admit I was a little worried about this part but it was so much fun! We laughed, had a great time and made lifetime family memories. I observed how carefully the River Trippers team worked together to make sure everyone was safe and able to have a good time. I highly recommend that you work this into your schedule.

Fun experience for first-time rafter! - They didn’t waste a lot of our time getting gear and riding bus to entry site or back after the trip which was really cool. Our guide Brandon was really chill and did a great job guiding us safely down the river. The river was a bit tamer and slower than what I expected so we were able to jump out of the raft and cool off. There were a few small rapids so my daughter who was a first time rafter got to experience a couple of mins of challenging water at the end which we all really enjoyed. It was a fun time and worth the money.

How not to earn 5 stars - I regret picking this company to go rafting with in Durango. Before the trip, I received communications from them where they were prompting for tips, and wanted 18% to 22%. Businesses typically make a pitch for tip at the end of the adventure, but we haven't even arrived to Durango yet. Arriving at their checkin station, we found big tipping barcode sheets taped to almost all of their tables there. We got on their bus for the ride down to the river, and inside the bus, there were signs for tipping the guides posted inside the bus. Finally, there was a shout-out that you can't over tip the guides at the end of our trip. No. Not final. Back in my hotel room, I received text and email with link to tip the guide. (I already used their barcode and tipped our young guide 20% at the end of our trip. Even-though I did not like this company, I did not want to take it out on our young guide, whom I liked.) Durango mostly cater to the domestic crowd...we already know how to tip, and some of us are really good at it. Besides tips, they want something else too...their 5-star reviews. Our guide told us that they have a competition among the guides, if they get the most 5 star reviews, (so we must name our guide in the reviews), then they get $10 extra dollars in their pay check. We heard two other guides nearby giving the same pitch to their paddlers. So, in addition to tip requests, after the trip, we got text and email to leave them 5-star reviews, but nothing short of 5 stars. Well, I wish I had known these about this company. I picked to go rafting with this company because they have 200+ 5-star reviews. I felt cheated. 5-star reviews ought to be earned, not arggressively cultivated in this manner. I wish that I had picked a rafting company that treated their guests with more respect, and certainly not a walking wallet and marketing tool. We only spent 2.5 hours with this company, which yield about one hour floating on the Animas river, yet they have tirelessly bombarded me with texts and emails for tips and 5-star reviews. We are back in California now. I just got yet another email from them today asking for 5-stars, and nothing short of 5-stars. But this is not the way to earn 5 stars.
