Wild - It was a wonderful experience. The dune buggy, water cave and beach was so much fun! The dune buggy was a perfect time to get messy. It would have been nice to spend more time on the water cave and the beach.

Not as expected - Wow! Where do I begin?! For weeks I had been looking forward to the experience based on what I perceived it to be like from the pictures. The day of the excursion, the excitement set in we went to the lobby early for the pickup. As we waited patiently 30 mins past the expected pickup time we began to see a buggy adventure truck arrive we quickly got excited to see how many people were doing the excursion. As we stood in line to get on the truck we quickly learned (this wasn’t our group). The group leaves and now we wonder, something is seriously wrong and we’re contemplating canceling. We reached out and then received notification that we would be picked up in 5 mins. As we waited in patiently another 30 mins a white van arrives with a very small tour sticker on the side. The tires were covered in dirt which lead me to believe this van was for us. The gentleman comes over and asks our name and as we follow him to van, red flag number 2 sets in. We get in the van which it looked as if it doubles as his work van, the gentleman proceeds to hands us a phone. On the phone was “his friend” that proceeded to tell us the driver was at the wrong resort for almost an hour. Note: the hotel that we were told he was at we could walk to so if in fact he was there, it wouldn’t have taken 30 mins to get to us. As we rode past other resorts we start wondering if we were the only guest on the tour. After seeing such a large group get on the bus 40 mins beforehand it just didn’t make sense. The second we proceeded to ask we noticed a large group of buggies going into a lot and we instantly felt relieved but then we quickly drove past where they were only to turn down the roughest dirt road I had ever been on. Now we red flag number 3 comes and we ask the driver if we were the only guest and he proceeded to tell us yes in fact we were. While driving down the road I contemplated saying just stop and take us back. Unfortunately the moment that I thought that we turned into what appeared to be someone’s driveway to their home. We were greeted by a gentleman with a big smile as he opened the van door. He then walks us over to the “seating area” to provide us with a quick history lesson about some of the herbs and spices native to DR and the process of how things were made. Unfortunately for him I wasn’t interested in anything he had to say because I felt uncomfortable. He proceeded to offer drinks but we respectfully passed. Due to feeling on edge we tuned most of the discussion out. We were also told the home was in fact a residence, his grandmothers home and part of the excursion we would get a tour of the home. I proceed to hurry along all conversation as best and respectfully as possible. We were greeted by a young man who was a tour guide. He was honestly the one that made me feel a little more at ease. We proceed to the buggy which appeared to have been built by someone living there, the seatbelt didn’t work and the buggy was started by Hot-wiring it. Fast forward to driving, as we drove through the road it was increasingly hard to turn, drive straight, and at times stop the buggy. At slow speeds the buggy would sputter, the wheel would shake and it would ultimately just feel downright unsafe. There was a camera man that road with our guide, he proceeded to take pics when surrounded by other tour groups to give the impression we were having fun with our group. We went to the places as promised so if still interested you will get there. Just likely in a buggy that you least expect. As I end this here, the experience wasn’t what I expected. It’s evident they are trying to build their company and they’re looking to compete with the much bigger companies but it’s important that those of us who do experience it provide an understanding of what people will receive when arriving. I do hope they become a large company but I hope they make it without people feeling deceived.
