Add a twist of thrill to your history lessons: amongst other things, you will learn why the St. Lambertus Gothic church possesses a tilted tower, the process behind the creation of the horse-mounted statue of beloved Elector Jan Wellem, Heinrich Heine’s birthplace and how a tailor named Wibbel gained fame.

The castle tower at Burgplatz stands as the sole survivor from the Burgplatz castle, erected in the 16th century and taken down following a fire in the 19th century. Since 1984, Germany’s oldest maritime museum has made its home here.
