A beautiful and different viewpoint t - We were notified that you could take a ferry to Swanage from Poole Harbour by some locals when we were on our holiday. When we got there, we realised that we could buy a ticket that covered both the cruise round to Swanage and also the steam train. Buying tickets were really simple online and allowed us to be aware of the timetables. The captain gave a tour on the way round which was informative but not overbearing. I’ve been to pool and Swanage several times before but never seen the Jurassic coastline from this viewpoint and it was fascinating to see things like Harry rocks and Durdle door from the sea. My kids loved it too.

Fantastic - What a fantastic trip we had. We tried to book via Wowcher however this did not work. The gentleman in the kiosk literally tried everything he could to assist us to no avail so we paid £28 each worth every penny The skipper was so informative and humourous the rest of the queue were really helpful finding stools for us to sit on. Explaining how the boat worked to my ever inquisitive friend . We had 20 minutes in Swanage just enough time for a beautiful ice cream a look at the art and back getting even closer to the shore and seeing Harry's rocks really close up. A really enjoyable few hours, highly recommended.

Old Harry Rocks and Swanage - My second boat trip from Poole to Swanage - always great to sail past Old Harry Rocks and a great way to arrive in Swanage at the pier.

Rude Bully of a captain - The experience itself was lovely. However the captain was very rude. We got to Swanage and it wasn't clear on the tannoy what we were meant to do. We were confused so we thought we would get off and ask one of the staff members. They checked our ticket and said that our ticket was to stay on the boat and it would disembark in 30 mins. We had driven 2 hours to Poole for the trip and then was on the boat sitting down to Swanage, our 9 year old has ADHD and finds it very hard to sit still and she had done so well but we needed to just walk for 10-15 mins and explained this to staff member and they said ok and we walked for 15 mins and were back with plenty of time spare Once we got back onto the boat the captain rudely spoke to us and raised his voice telling us we shouldn't have got off which we accept, however he continued this barrage as we walked away and kept folllowing us and aimed this all at my wife. Even after I interjected and asked if theres an actual problem here he said there wasn't but then still carried on his emotional barrage at my wife. A man in his position should hold himself with more integrity and respect and if he does have an issue be a man and address me, not aim his emotions at my small, soft wife. A weak man with no self control.

Refund not processed, yet - We received a cancellation email 40 minutes before our scheduled departure. We were already at the quay by then. The man processing our £80 refund blamed the (perfectly fine for all the other operators) weather for the cancellation, as much as any technical issues. Which added to everyone’s suspicion that we weren’t being told the genuine reason for the last minute cancellation. I was told to expect the refund in 3-5 days, but now 9 days after the cancellation I am still waiting for my refund! I called and was told the refund wasn't processed properly on the day, but that it will be processed and take 3-5 days from now. Lucky I checked. I will be checking again!

Unreliable - don’t book with City Cruises Poole - We received a cancellation email 40 minutes before our scheduled departure. Just after we’d paid to park for the morning. If it was a genuine “technical issue on two vessels” surely that was known long before that time. The man processing our refund also blamed the (perfectly fine, calm sea, 19 degrees) weather for the cancellation as much as any technical issue. Which only added to everyone’s suspicion that we weren’t being told the genuine reason for the last minute cancellation.

Beware! Cancelled Via Email 1 Hour Before Departure - Sailing cancelled with virtually no notice & no apology, allegedly due to rough seas. It was 33C on a windless day. We saw sail boats hardly moving; small boats and jet skis bobbing along the route on calm waters.

Complaint of charges - I was astounded that I was charged £28 each for 3 passengers to do a 2hr 15 min cruise, this is in fact t a 2 hour cruise and 15 minutes waiting time for passengers boarding at Swanage. Swanage to Poole is £26 return so why were we charged £2 each extra to just sit on board?? The woman in the kiosk stated it's cheaper to travel when the boat is not full. Is their any logic in this??
