Highlights
  • Bar Antonio - Your first pintxos bar is a relaxed neighborhood haunt, bustling with local office workers unwinding over evening drinks. Sink your teeth into the best Spanish omelet in San Sebastian and another contemporary bite, and wash it down with a zurito—a small beer that’s the perfect size to pair with pintxos.
  • Vinos Ezeiza - Make your way to a cozy third-generation wine store, a rarity in this part of town. You’ll be welcomed by the friendly owner, who will usher your group into the private back room and pour tastings of their signature homemade blackthorn liqueur. As you enjoy your drink, your guide will share fascinating stories that will immerse you in San Sebastian’s captivating recent history and give you a better understanding of the local culture.
  • Casa Valles - Pop into one of the city’s most legendary bars, renowned as the birthplace of the iconic gilda pintxo. Taste this historic bite alongside a selection of more delicious homemade pintxos, including their delectable pork chorizo. To drink, you’ll sip the Basque Country’s famously dry cider—and learn how to pour it the traditional way!
  • La Espiga - Take a moment to admire the stunning San Sebastian Cathedral as your guide leads you to your next stop, said to be the very first pintxos bar in the city. Meet the siblings behind the bar lovingly carrying on their grandmother’s culinary traditions and try a selection of a few favorites. Pair it with a glass of crisp txakoli wine for a quintessentially Basque experience.
  • Juan sebastian bar - Stop at a local bar so beloved that it even inspired a famous Ibiza nightclub! Try their exquisite homemade vermouth paired with one last round of pintxos: delectable sardines on toast, a refreshing tomato salad made with locally sourced produce, and an unexpected snack paying homage to San Sebastian’s maritime heritage.

Amia was a fantastic... - Amia was a fantastic guide and it was clear she was passionate the about the food and wine and sharing it. The food was some of the best I've ever eaten in my life! The neighborhood is much quieter than old town and is mostly locals, so it's good to know how to navigate a local pintxos bar before trying on your own!

Incredible food, brilliant tour, avoid the crowds! - We opted for the Centro tour to avoid the crowds in the old town and we weren’t disappointed. Our tour guide Amaia was brilliant - knowledgeable and friendly - and each bar, pinxo and drink was fantastic. The tortilla at Antonio Bar was the best I’ve ever eaten and we loved trying new flavours including the famous Gilda, vermouth and sea snails from a paper cone. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: great food and guide! - The tour with Osane was a great mix of local history, tasty food and drink (the stop at the local wine shop that makes its own Pacharán was a highlight!), and supporting local shops and businesses! We went at a good pace and, by the end, I was full! Being from the Basque country, Osane was super knowledgeable and helpful...and she was really professional and great at keeping the group together and making everyone feel welcome. I highly recommend a tour with Osane!

Lovely pintxo tour with Osane from Devour - It was a great tour of pintxos in San Sebastián with Osane Redondo from Devour. All the pintxos were delicious. We tried different wines which are typical from the Basque county. Osane told us a lot of nice stories about the city. We would love to try with the Devour group in other city.

Great way to learn about the city and experience delicious foods! - Our tour guide Hector was very knowledgeable and lots of fun. We did this tour on our first day in San Sebastion and greatly enjoyed every single bar where Hector took us. We revisited several places on our own during our week in San Sebastian.

Fun Neighborhood Pintxo Tour with an excellent guide! - This three hour tour was time and money well spent! The pintxos (tapas in Basque region) and drinks were amazing plus Claudia, our tour guide was excellent! She offered so much information plus chose some great pintxo bars to visit for incredible food and drink. We tasted cider and their wine (called Txakoli) from the Basque region plus other wonderful wines. Claudia also showed us the proper way to pour the Basque cider and wine.......I need to work on my technique but it was all very interesting! I would highly recommend this tour to get of the beaten path and experience some places where the locals visit! We were fortunate to have a small group - only a total of 5 of us with Claudia - perfect size and a wonderful evening!

Very upsetting treatment! - They did not let me join their tour because of my food allergy. I am allergic to the chemicals used to refine sunflower oils. So I can only eat olive oil or extra virgin olive oil. When I contacted Devour tours, I told them I was willing to skip the pintxos and not eat anything or as an alternative to just eat bread, ham and cheese at each bar. They came back to me saying that I could not join because of risk of cross contamination!! really??? how can there be any cross contamination with bread, ham and cheese that do not get cooked??? I just had the impression that they have a set of pintxos that they eat at each bar and they could not have any flexibility in asking anything different (which by the way should not be very complicated to make....come on: bread/ham/cheese) Anyway, the email they sent me was very upsetting. They sent me a list of pintxos bars and restaurants suggesting I checked them on my own. The only reason why I wanted to do the tour was because i wanted to meet other people and hear the stories behind the pintxos. I did not want to do it for the food. And as I wrote via email, I did not mind paying your price to eat bread and ham all the time! I just felt treated as if i am a ....sick person....and not welcome! Anyway, in the end I contacted Euskerne at Discover San Sebastian. From the very first email she said she would have found food for me! During the tour with her I ate ham, bread and some meat...and even hake. All the pintxos were made super fresh for me and without any oil. She treated me like a normal person....who just happens to be allergic! And by the way, I went to some other pintxos bars on my own in the following days and I got the most incredible food super freshly made for me..with olive oil! ATARI BAR was spectacular and the number one place where I ate even much better than the Michelin restaurants I tried (I had the octopus, foie gras with chocolate and torreja...all amazing and my friend had the cheeks..which were incredible). We also drank the best wines sitting in front the spectacular church. CASA UROLA was our second best (the hake was unbelievable; my friend loved the octopus and squid) BODEGA DONOSTIARRIA (in Gros) was wonderful (the brocheta of octopus to die for) and the place is super nice! sit outside. BORDA BERRI is much smaller.....but also had incredible meat! super good. I tried many other bars and restaurants in San Sebastian, Getaria and the French side.....and Atari is absolutely the very best! Honestly if you have the patience to go ask to the barmen for their specialties they will tell you what to order. And most waiters speak very good English. You do not need to do the pintxos tour with a guide. I personally found much more interesting to do the guided cultural tour with Civitatis and learn about the history and identity of the Basque people. It is true that the food is very good in the Basque area.....but I personally think that their history and past is what makes this region really unique. The Civitatis tour is free but you end up leaving a good tip because the guys are super well prepared!
