Highlights
  • Saona Island - Visit the tropical paradise of Saona Island during a day trip from Punta Cana, an excellent choice for travelers who want to experience multiple island attractions in a single day. Embark on a speedboat and head out to the island, stopping at a natural pool where you can see star sea stars. Walk on the beach, swim in the blue waters and relax on the white sand. Your tour includes lunch, open bar and pick-up and drop-off at the hotel. The name, “Saona”, commemorates her friend Michele da Cuneo, from Savona, Italy. You will be taken to the island by a speedboat that includes a stop at a natural pool with clear waters. If you’re lucky, you’ll see some star mar! In Isla Saona, you will have many options: vadear in the turquoise waters, visit the open bar, take a nap in a beach chair, play volleyball, enjoy a typical Dominican lunch of chicken, pork, rice, beans and salad. And fruit, or walking along the coast. Take your time and do it all!

Great excursions In Paradise - The place is what you expect when you think about going to the Caribbean. The Staff was very warm and welcome and they played reggaeton all day long which I personally love! Free bar and plenty of food was also share and they were also taking professional pictures in case you wanted to capture the memories.

Amazing experience - worth the trip - Amazing experience, worth the money! Pick up was approx 8am from Riu Republica, travelled 15 mins to gas station to change buses to larger group (around 20 people), then approx 1 hour bus journey. Travelled to natural pool around 40 mins by fast boat, then saw starfishes. Around another 45-1hour boat journey to Saona Island. Stayed for approx 2.5 hours, lunch included buffet style, good variety of food. Drinks on boat was only Coca Cola and rum, no other options. Then Catamaran with around 75-100 people, around 2 hours return to dock. Saw dolphins on the way Then 1 hours approx bus journey back to resort, arrival approx 7pm There are photographers that take photos of your throughout trip, they will try to sell the photos, make sure to haggle to get a good deal as the photos are actually very good. Make sure to bring dollars cash for photoshoot, around 50-100USD. Pina colada on soana island is around 10USD, beer 5USD, also some souvenirs you can buy. Would point out that the price we paid per trip with more or less than others, all trips offer the same itinerary.

There is better ! - After taking the same tour a few days earlier with another operator, with the guide Alberto, it only showed that the experience with this operator fell far short... both in terms of guide, in terms of buffet, in terms of staff in the boat... Much weaker... of a much lower level. Even though the price paid is the same!

Saona Island disappointed 😔 - Booked being told that maximum number of people would be 15!!! You can easily double that for the transfer which you get dropped at a shop for an hour!!!! Also requested English speaking guide, bless him but no English. So Re instructions about times to meet etc could have been a disaster!! However we met 2 girls from Uruguay who kindly translated for us. From pick up at 7am to actually getting into a boat was 3.5 hrs. The boat had 40-50 people on not the 15 as promised in the conversation via text messages. We finally arrived on the island at 1pm. Oh no beer included in the free bar so had to purchase this one of us does not drink rum. Not a major problem but get your details correct. The island is beautiful, lunch average and did run out of food . Speedboat and catamaran trip good. Back on the bus, then got dropped off at a petrol station to wait for another bus to take us back to our hotel. Finally walked through the hotel door at 7pm so 12 hrs not 9 hrs. Be prepared for a long day. Also this is not a snorkeling trip. Not once was any historical information mentioned about anywhere we went. I would recommend booking a private private tour if you have enough numbers say 6/8. All in all a bit of a disappointment 😔
