Not sure worth the money - I booked this as the horse riding appealed, however I am an experienced rider and the track you walk up and down to get to the waterfall, well I wouldn’t be happy walking it on foot. I was petrified the horse was going to stumble. However they are well shod and seemed cared for, and apparently only do one ride a day each. But i thought the cost of £150 was expensive for what was effectively a - short horse ride, a swim in the waterfall (which was lovely but freezing, and you have to walk down then back up 265 steps to get to it a ), lunch (no complaints there), then a boat to Bacardi island for about 1hr30 free time on the beach. You also have a 1hr 45 bus journey each way to the boat, which takes 45 mins each way, before you even get to the bus that takes you to the horses…. Oh and be prepared to be expected to tip everyone….

WARNING Horse Back Ride is Dangerous - This excursion is definitely a full day adventure. We got picked up at 6:40am and returned around 8pm. We got served lunch, it was a delicious buffet. However that was the only meal throughout the day. The majority of the day is traveling through the mountains north of Punta Cana. Then across the water to Samana. Then another drive to the El Limon waterfall. The waterfall was massive and beautiful. We were able to swim in the water, which was refreshing after the long journey. We luckily had guides that helped make the waterfall swim memorable. I was enjoying the day -- until I saw the horses. They looked malnourished and tired. My horse was drenched in sweat. As if it had already done the journey multiple times that day. We had arrived after lunch. The guides said the horses are owned by the company. They insisted on whipping the horses to trot even through the horrendous footing. I am an experienced rider and I was shocked at the trail conditions. THIS IS NOT BEGINNER FRIENDLY. Many people with our tour group refused to ride the horses. My friend was riding infront of me and her guide ran up and whipped her horse and the horse startled so badly it slipped and fell in the mud. My friend was pinned while the horse rolled onto her. Luckily no one was hurt. The guides said they do not make any money from the company. That they rely on tips from the tourists. All our guides were young teenage boys and there were empty beer bottles along the trail. Overall the excursion would be a great experience however the horse back riding journey was a major disappointment. They need better care. They need better trail conditions.

I did not like - I wouldn't go back, do it because the poor horses have no respite and they are not treated well, I did the exussion walking and I don't like it either because they ask for a tip even to breathe and when you leave according to what you leave they tell you it's not enough, the truth is I don't like it Let them tell you what you have to leave, I simply wouldn't go back.

Disappointing, traveling all day to enjoy a couple of hours. The people who accompany the horses express - Disappointing. There is NO value for money. Everything was bad, in the end we had to pay about 40 dollars in tip compared to the 165 dollars per person that the trip cost. $165 for an hour and a half on the beach and 45 minutes at a waterfall. I do not recommend to anybody .

Not good at all - Storngly suggest you avoid this one if you have any sensitivity for the poor treatment of animlas. This tour had one decent part the rest just left me angry. The drive either way is extremely long, and you will not get back until late at night after leaving very early in the morning. The food is terrible. Dried sandwiches with one slice of cheese is an example. We did this combined with whale watching. That was ok, except, when they actually find them, they signal each other and then they crowd the poor animals with several boats at once. The worst part was El Limon falls. While the falls themselves are beautiful to look at and swim on, the hike to them is brital and not recommended for anyone except those who are in decent physical shape. When you get there it is crowded with literally hundreds of others also there. The horse ride to the area to hike down to the falls was awful. The animals are mistreated constantly, and it is a miracle that they don't break their legs or fall while walking the path. How they carry larger people on this path is beyond me, and as others have pointed out, it would be very dangerous for people to walk on. The guides are nothing more than animal beating, tip beggars who spend the entire return effort whining about their poor life conditions and begging and shaming you for tip money...large amounts of it. I absolutely hated this part of the tour, and I didn't like the rest of it. Huge waste of money and time. Unfortunately you don't know until you have already gone. Take my, and others word for it. AVOID THIS EXCURSION.

Do not book with this company - Do not book this tour with this company. Very unorganized- we spent more time switching vans than actually doing anything. They also advertise as English speaking guide but the only English anyone spoke with us was to ask for tips

Animal, abuse and cruelty - PLEASE PLEASE do NOT book this trip! You will be funding animal, cruelty the horses are extremely thin, not looked after and hit constantly! The path to the waterfall is very DANGEROUS to walk as a human let alone the horses that were slipping I’ve read in a review one horse did fall. Some of the horses had bad legs and when standing would hold that foot off the ground because of pain. I told the “guild” more like animal abuser If you hit the horse again, I would get off the horse and hit him!! Many people got off the horses and walked because it was pure animal abuse…to top that off at the end the animal abuser then demanded 25 dollars as a tip…..sorry but I for one will not fund an abuser I have spoken to the rep at Top Tours who has said many people come back and complain about it…so top tours are more than happy to continue to fund such abuse I’m now told they will not sell this trip anymore but we will see PLEASE if you are human please don’t find this people were crying it was the worse thing I’ve ever seen.

No Bueno, this excursion was a horrible experience! - I can’t tell you how frustrated and disappointed I am regarding this excursion. But here are a few highlights: 1. No one the the group was prepared for the mud and mud puddles we had to walk in to get to breakfast and the boat launch. No sidewalk, but trash and dogs to contend with. 2. Breakfast was two pieces of sandwich bread, a slice of cheese and fatty ham. No condiments, just dry bread. Additionally, the dogs had to be chased out so we could eat in peace. 3. We traveled in boats on the open ocean for over an hour each way with no life vests, no safety instructions, nothing. Bad for business if something should occur and simple safety precautions would have prevented it. 4. The safari was driving us from the beach to the trail head and horses. That’s not a safari, that’s simple transportation. 5. Getting the horses was a disorganized fiasco. There was more mud, mud puddles and a new component, horse piss. And we got to walk through all of it. 6. The horses looked malnourished, you could see the rear hip bones on the horse’s rump. 7. The trail to the falls was treacherous, if someone was thrown from their horse or fell off their horse severe injury would have been likely. 8. As aggressive and dangerous as the excursion was there were no first aid kits or medical personal on sight to help someone. 9. Don’t put your customers in the middle of a pay dispute between you and your contractors. I received yours email regarding guide pay. The guides were not shy about asking for a tip. Several in our group didn’t carry extra cash to pay a tip and felt embarrassed they didn’t have the money. We paid $30 US and the guide acted like it wasn’t enough. Very uncomfortable to be put in that kind of situation. 10. For us the excursion began at 6:40 AM. We got back to our resort at 22:15. You should have made it clear the excursion would last 16 to 18 hours. If I would have realized it would last that long I wouldn’t have book it. I’m frustrated by the experience and embarrassed I put my wife through such an ordeal. But lesson learned, next time I’ll book my excursion through the resort instead of Viator.

Never again - There is nothing good about the trip, except the driver who took us to the place where the boat ride started. He made sure the people from his ride stayed safe. First a 2.5 ride on bus to the boat. Then a 1 hour ride on the boat. Then a 30 min ride on bus to a ranch. 25 min horse ride to the fall. The horse ride was treacherous, I fell twice and hurt the back. The path to the fall is dangerous for the horse and for walking. It would be outlawed due to the conditions in most countries. We did not get to see Samaná. No narration from the guides. We finally got lunch at 3:00pm. Viator should drop representing this tour or it will face legal issues.
