Recognized by UNESCO as a natural reserve with its own ecosystem, it is one of the few places in the world where the sea penetrates deep into the desert. This serene body of water is only accessible by traversing the rolling dunes, as there are no roads leading to it.

According to UNESCO, Khor Al Adaid is “a remarkable landscape” with “world-class scenic beauty.” The area hosts a unique array of fauna, including several species that are internationally rare and/or threatened, such as turtles.
