Tara river canyon holds the title for being Montenegro’s longest canyon with a length of 82 kilometers (51 miles), and a peak depth of 1,300 meters (4,300 feet); this makes it Europe’s deepest river canyon. The canyon, placed under the protection of Durmitor National Park, is on the tentative list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The Tara river canyon is only surpassed in depth worldwide by the Grand canyon.

Probably the most beautiful rafting in the world - A great day trip from Kotor! I've done plenty of rafting before but the Tara River canyon is by far the most beautiful. The rapids are quite gentle and easily doable by anyone. I also enjoyed the trip to and from the rafting. It's a fairly long drive but very comfortable and my guide was wonderful company - attentive and informative with interesting conversations.
