• Columbus Park - Located in the town of Discovery Bay, Columbus Park is a historical site originally named Puerto Seco, or “Dry Harbour,” by Christopher Columbus in 1494 when he and his crew arrived on the island. Legend has it that they struggled to find fresh water initially but eventually discovered a source about 5 miles west, which they named Rio Bueno, meaning “Good River.” In 1947, the town was renamed Discovery Bay, marking the spot where Columbus and the Spanish first landed on May 4, 1494. The park features various relics and artifacts, offering a brief stop for photos and a glimpse into the town’s rich history.
• Runaway Bay - This tour explores one of Jamaica’s most popular and picturesque towns, Runaway Bay. Nestled between a stunning coastline and lush green mountains, its name is subject to debate. Some believe it was named after the last group of Spanish soldiers who fled from British troops led by Governor Ysassi following the 1655 British invasion. Others suggest it was an escape route for slaves heading to Cuba. Be sure to have your camera ready as you journey through this scenic area.
• Bob Marley Museum - Bob Marley, born on February 6, 1945, and passed away on May 11, 1981, is celebrated in the small village of Nine Mile, located 3000 feet in the hills of St. Ann. This is where Bob was born and now rests. The hour-and-a-half tour of this village is captivating, guided by a Rastafarian who will answer all your questions. Enjoy live reggae music as you explore Bob’s first home, childhood belongings, and the places that inspired his music. Visit the Ethiopian church where he is laid to rest with his guitar. Many visitors report feeling Bob’s presence during their visit. After the Nine Mile tour, you’ll head to Bob Marley’s house in Kingston.
• Bob Marley Museum - Bob’s Victorian-style home, now the Bob Marley Museum, is a treasure trove of memories and memorabilia celebrating the life and achievements of this iconic Jamaican musician. Experience the sights and sounds of Bob as you take a guided tour of this Heritage Site. Friendly guides will lead you through the main house, exhibition hall, theatre, gift shops, and the One Love Café. The original rooms remain as they were during Bob’s time, preserving authenticity. Exhibits include a life-size 3D hologram of Bob from the 1978 One Love Peace Concert, his Grammy Lifetime Achievement award, personal recording studio, bedroom, favorite clothing, numerous gold and platinum records, and costumes of his backup singers, the I-Threes.
