Additional Information

Your exploration of folklore and history begins by touring the ancient city and sanctuary of Dion, devoted to the mightiest and primary Olympic Deity, Zeus, the sovereign of ancient Greek Dodecatheon and controller of the cosmos.
At the archaeological site of Dion, besides temples, you’ll observe distinct mosaic floors, ancient baths, and ruins. Subsequently, our knowledgeable guide will take you to the Dion Museum, where you can marvel at the ancient statues, artifacts, and discoveries unearthed at the site and hear tales and anecdotes about the daily lives of the inhabitants of ancient Dion.
Our excursion concludes in the charming, traditional village of Old Panteleimon, dating back to the 14th century and deserted by the end of World War II. While there, you’ll have the opportunity to wander and explore the picturesque cobblestone pathways, quaint residences, concealed taverns and cafes.
After a respite for lunch, we head back to Thessaloniki.

Memorable with beautiful scenery - Our guide, Dimitra, was very knowledgeable, kept us informed, provided excellent commentary! Since there were tourists from Italy in the group, she gave the tour in two languages. I founded it interesting.

Very informative and lovely village for lunch - We had a little mix up with the meeting point but thankfully the van waited. The archaeological site was interesting but most of what we saw was roman as those pesky Italians built over the Greek site when they where the super power. But it was still good to see. Then the museum, its small but filled. Lastly we had lunch in a village on Mt olympus that is traditional, it was a cloudy day so we did not get to see the top of the mountain which sucked but you cannot control the weather

Knowledgable Guide - The guide was very knowledgeable and she was careful to give attention to both the English and Italian group very professionally. I thought there was some issue with the microphone in the bus because we couldn't hear clearly. The 90 minute stop at Litochoro was inadequate to explore and have lunch. It's a cute place and perhaps some more time can be allocated. Even though it was raining the guide handled the trip very well.

Misleading title, not the visit to Mount Olympus that you would expect - The title of this tour is a little bit misleading. I and my family and several other members of the tour group had imagined that we would actually be going up Mount Olympus, which never happened. Instead, the tour mostly consisted of a visit to several archeological sites in Dion, an ancient city at the base of the mountain, and a visit to the adjacent museum. We did go up a neighboring mountain to a traditional Greek village where we were given free time to have lunch and walk around. There were amazing views from here of Mount Olympus and also of the sea below. Still, the tour does not include a visit to Mount Olympus itself.

One language per tour - We were highly dissatisfied because it was a duo lingo tour. We were not informed of this when we purchased the tour. Others in the group were also dissatisfied because we had to wait for the French version to be completed before moving on. This tour consisted of many sites, so the waiting became unpleasant in the heat. This tour could have been completed in one half of the time if it had not been duo lingo. We understand that a tour has to maximize the event but it would be to everyone’s benefit to keep it to one language. The village where we were able to have lunch on our time was very nice. The archeological aspect was good expect for the waiting in the heat!
