Phenomenal, Niche Guided Tour - Words cannot express how delighted I am with Steve's high attention to detail and wonderful focus on customer satisfaction! Before I explain further, I first need to state that I was a solo female traveler on this particular trip to Ireland. I needed a very specific and different kind of tour, focusing on the war activities of my grandfather in the 1920s in Kerry. From when we first started emailing one another mid-May, I felt a deep sense of professionalism and comfort with Steve. I knew that I was going to be alone in the car for several days with a driver I had never met. Many of those days were long and in various parts of the country. Therefore, it was deeply important that I felt very safe. I can honestly tell you that from the moment Steve picked me up at the train station in Limerick to the time he dropped me off at Dublin Airport four days later, I ALWAYS felt relaxed and secure. Not once did I feel uncomfortable. Additionally, some of these stops were in very remote parts of the Sliabh Mis Mountains, a stunning part of the Dingle Peninsula. So, if you happen to be traveling independently in Ireland or know someone who wants to but doesn't know where to begin, I can't think of a more respectful and honest tour guide than Steve! As I stated before, Steve and I had been corresponding, nearly on a daily basis, all the way from the middle of May until a few days before the trip. Not only did he deeply plan the logistics of the many stops I was requesting, but he also used his contacts to find and reach out to local historians and distant relatives of mine. For example, I have a cousin that my mother had been close with, but over the years, our family had lost touch. Without my asking, Steve was very proactive and contacted a local organization who was affiliated with this cousin. An individual there was able to contact the family, and we were able to meet up for lunch. Because of this, Steve helped develop a relationship with my long-lost cousins! He also kindly visited the bookstore in Dingle prior to my visit, picking up historical publications that are related to my grandfather's war activities. As many of the stops I was asking him to do were outside the usual tourist spots (remote soldier hideouts, location of ambush sites, war memorials, etc.), Steve also drove to these areas prior to my arrival into Ireland so he could learn the exact routes and more about the locations. Knowing that he took the time to experience the journey and sites himself before the tour actually began made it even more clear to me that Steve wanted to be certain this trip was of really high-quality! Throughout our travels, Steve always drove his beautifully clean Skoda at a comfortable speed and was consistently on-time. One day in particular was planned to be very long with numerous stops (7am pick-up, 9pm drop-off). He always made these stops within the time frame that was expected. Also on that day, a local historian showed us numerous sites revolving around Irish history, which resulted in several last-minute visits to off-the-beaten-track locations that were not on the original itinerary. Steve accommodated these stops with grace and an open mind. Furthermore, he drove the hairpin turns and cliffside roads of Kerry confidently and responsibly, thereby giving me tremendous peace of mind. In addition to all of the driving Steve had to do within a condensed four-day window, he took incredible video and drone footage of my adventures. Keep in mind this is an extra charge - totally worth every penny, and I am beyond thrilled with the results! I returned from my journey only four days ago. The video compilation he created, including footage of my walking through the mountains, numerous photographs, as well as my grandfather playing the accordion in the background, has already been completed. This is another example of Steve's expertise and efficiency, helping to make my trip very much worthwhile and memorable. Overall, I would highly recommend Steve as a tour guide not only within Kerry, but also other parts of Ireland. He tailored my trip to exactly what I needed while also providing other options and suggestions. I enjoyed good conversation as well as hearing about the background of various spots within the country. I feel Steve is very reliable, knowledgeable and thoughtful. Whether I am traveling solo, with my husband or with a small group, I will be certain to book Steve again the next time I am in Kerry! Steve, "go raibh míle maith agat" for making my visit back to Ireland worry-free and oh-so memorable!
