TSAvo East day safari - We booked a day safari from Diani beach- an early start of 4:30 am and a long, bumpy journey because of the roadworks, we had a brilliant time at TSAvo east. We saw many animals including my favourite elephants and giraffes (the buffet lunch was over looking the elephants, gazelles & zebras by the watering hole) and our driver/guide Bindo was good at giving us plenty of time to watch and photograph the animals. A long, hot wonderful day and an unforgettable experience.

What an amazing experience! - What an amazing day! We saw lots of animals including elephants, zebras, lions, cheetahs, giraffes, hippos, gazelles, monkeys, warthogs, vultures, ostrich, many birds & more! All thanks to our wonderful guide Francis, he drove us around searching for the animals, stopped for us to take pictures and watch the animals whenever he or we spotted anything. Great safe driver & very happy we had Francis and were lucky enough to see so many animals! Would definitely come again! Highly recommend!

Unique experience - You cannot go on holiday to Kenya without taking part in a Safari. Fantastic experience. We opted for the overnight stay inside the park and it was worth it. During the tour both at sunset and dawn, as well as landscapes with enchanting colors, we were lucky enough to meet many species of animals. Then returning to the accommodation we had the rooms overlooking the pond where there were elephants, hippos, zebras and other animals. Experience definitely highly recommended.

Delightful - Our one-day safari to Tsavo East National Park was absolutely incredible! Even though it was just a day trip, we saw so much — elephants, giraffes, zebras, and even lions lounging under acacia trees. The vast savannah landscapes and red-dust roads gave us that true wild Africa vibe. Our guide was super knowledgeable and had eagle eyes — spotting animals we would’ve missed. He shared fascinating facts about the wildlife and made the whole trip engaging and fun. We had a delicious packed lunch near a watering hole where we could watch animals coming in for a drink. It was such a peaceful and surreal moment. If you’re short on time but still want to experience Kenya’s wild side, I highly recommend the Tsavo East Day Trip. It’s perfect for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone looking to escape the city and soak in the beauty of the wild.

Transport broke down at the start of the day but ultimately we did see lions - I booked this trip in February. A few days before we were due to go I read a review saying someone else had been on the trip and their transport broken down at the start of the day and they were stranded for 6 hours. This really worried me and I emailed the company seeking assurances, which they gave. Had they not given these I would have cancelled the trip as I still had time to get a refund. On the morning of the trip our transport was 30minutes late in arriving, not necessarily a big deal, but more of a big deal when we had to get up at 4am and would have appreciated an extra 30mins sleep. Before our transport arrived the message I was given was that he would be 5 minutes late because he had problems getting on the ferry. When our transport did arrive he told us the delay was due to a flat tyre, which he continued to fix at the hotel. I again expressed my concern at the van breaking down and was again given assurances and felt like I was being unreasonable afterwards. I felt somewhat aggrieved that the person who gave me the message originally had been dishonest about the reason for and length of the delay. It took us only 2 hours to get to the stop off toilet break/restaurant which is 10 mins away from the park, which was impressive (in contrast it took us 4 hours to get back - from Diani Beach). There we were fleeced for gifts as is usual but this had nothing to do with the tour operators. Shortly before entering the park again we were fleeced by people selling overpriced hats but when someone tells you they need money to feed their family, it’s hard to argue with that. Someone more forthright can just say no. I guess I’m just a soft touch. But again this fleecing is not in the control of the tour operators. Our original guide was knowledgeable and kind and I was looking forward to spending the day with him. We managed to see elephants almost immediately after entering the park but I would say within 20 minutes of entry our van had broken down. Thankfully we had been travelling in convoy so another van being not too far away could pick us up. But from what I can gather our original guide was stranded there in a poor signal area waiting for a tow for some time and I did feel really bad for him. We ended up joining two different vans during the day. A very kind family and couple let us join them at different times. Out of the 3 groups travelling with this company today that paid for a private tour, none of them got it due to the breakdown. Ultimately we did see lions which was great. Although I was a bit concerned that one of the guides was going to speed by a herd of zebras as he hadn’t seen them due to being on his phone and we had to ask him to stop. The guides were generally really good and I don’t really have any complaints. I have no idea if the guides are the same people that own this company (they are calling themselves “explorer” to the checkpoint staff in the park), but whoever owns this company needs to take a serious look at the roadworthyness of their fleet of vehicles. We were lucky as we travelled in convoy. Had we not, we could have been stranded all day. That would have literally ruined my entire holiday. So until this company gives their vehicles some attention, I think you’re taking a risk of getting stranded and missing your safari.

Dissapointing experience - Extra expensive, beside the tickets we had to pay extra admision ticket for the park entrance another 53 $ per person. Very few animals 😔 and we found out later that is well known the lions are not easy to spot and they know it. Our ghid on the way back he lost himself amd instead of a 3h journey we made it in 4h.

Car breakdown, spent most of the time waiting in a lodge - The old nissan van broke down early, at 10:20am, forcing our group of 4 (3 kids and grandfather) to wait for relief for 6 hours at a nearby lodge inside the park. The "full day" safari was thereby reduced into mostly long road transport from Diani to Tsavo and return. Boring and dissappointing, paticularly for the kids. However, we saw a few animals on our tour into and out of the park. Such things happens, and we do not blame the driver, we think he did do what he could do, but rater the company for poorly maintained car and no backup for stranded tourists. We were offered a ten percent refund, but as the park fees were not included in the trip price, the refund was much less of the total cost. Tips: Assure with the operator that you do not get an old car, and preferably a Prado built for the rough roads in Tsavo. Our landlord told me that we should have expected a Prado for that price, not an old Nissan. If the trip is to be an once-in-the-lifetime experience, spend an overnight trip so you do not risk waiting for car repair most of the time.
