Dhaka bears testimony to the Armenian colony that arrived as part of the Armenian migration from Persia. The Armenian populace of Dhaka greatly influenced Bengali trade and business. Despite being a small community in Dhaka, they were dynamic and lively. Some affluent Armenians lived in European-style mansions. There are several untold tales of shifting fortunes that our walking tour will uncover. During this exploration, we will visit several Armenian community sites in Dhaka, discover heritage buildings and locations with their unshared narratives, understand the Armenians, their customs, Dhaka’s vibrant community, and some melancholic but factual history of their fluctuating wealth. This excursion includes a distinctive local breakfast at an antique café in Old Dhaka.
