Absolutely have to do this tour! - Our guide Angela was awesome. She gave us such a good understanding of the history behind the Bogside murals. Her experiences growing up in Derry during those turbulent times made the discussion even more fascinating. We would do the tour again if we are ever in Derry - Angela has so much knowledge to share.

Brilliant wee tour - Gleann is a fantastic tour guide. As someone who didn’t have a lot of background with the history of Northern Ireland, he was very clear and great at making you understand what went on. Incredibly interesting. A fantastic wee tour, i’d recommend to anyone visiting! Thanks so much!! X

Private tour of Derry Walls and Murals - As a family of 5 (3 kids of 16, 11 and 9) we took a private tour with our guide Adrian and he was excellent. He gave us a history of the walls before bringing us to the murals on the Bogside. He was great with the kids, constantly referring to them and keeping them interested. His knowledge was first class and as a local he gave us a real feel for the events of Bloody Sunday. We only booked that morning and even that was effortless and easily managed. Overall highly recommended.

Absolute must when visiting derry - Started our walking tour around the city walls with a very informative presentation of the history of not only Derry but Ireland and the historical events that helped shape the country.found the guide to be incredible with boundless knowledge and experience of the local area and an obvious passion to help tourists understand its dark political history. We continued on to the bog side and were staggered by the depth of first hand experience and knowledge being presented to us. Our guide had a personal connection but was professional about how he presented the information leaving us pondering the information for days . Would recommend this tour as an absolute necessity. Insist on having Gleann Doherty as your guide . If you read this ...THANKYOU Gleann and our thoughts have been with you. We were the group of 6 aussies you in March the day before the results of the inquiry were being released. We tailored our day the next day to ensure we were near a tv at 11am to hear the results...and were thinking of you and your family . Xx

An Emotional and Informative Experience - Before I arrived in Derry, I had never even heard the phrase "Bloody Sunday". I was aware in a general sense that there was lots of conflict between Protestants who wanted to be part of the UK and Catholics who wanted independence, but no more than that. Gleann, our tour guide, was able to tell us about all the historical events, but also made it personal. His father was killed on Bloody Sunday, and both of them have their faces on a monument. It's hard to think about tragic events in history as actual things that happened to actual people. But walking around, seeing where everything happened, seeing murals and faces, it triggered really strong emotions in me. If you want a sense of history while in Derry, I can't recommend this tour highly enough.

Brilliant tour, shame about the mural - We booked the tour of the Bogside and murals but our wonderful guide, Angela, gave us a tour of the walls too. Very informative tour. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable. Just one negative thing to point out, nothing to do with the tour as such. I had really been looking forward to seeing the You Are Now Entering Free Derry mural. This is an iconic mural and I was really looking forward to seeing it close up and getting a photograph. However, when we got there the mural had been defaced (not an exaggeration) by pro-Palestinian graffiti. Apparently this graffiti was put on the mural by a political 'artist' of some renown. Personally I do not think it is appropriate to be drawing a lazy comparison between the Troubles in Northern Ireland and the present conflict in the middle east. Secondly, the people of Derry should realise that this graffiti is extremely offensive to people from Israel or those of a Jewish persuasion. Free Derry corner is an iconic mural which I believe should be kept as original as possible and not be used for making statements in relation to foreign conflicts which have little or no relevance to Derry's own fascinating history.
