- Platte River / Cherry Creek Confluence - We can pick you up where you are staying or you can meet us at the beginning of the bike ride Platte River and Cherry Creek Confluence where we start our 40 mile trip along the Cherry Creek Trail.
From the urban setting of Downtown Denver to the rolling hills of rural Parker, the Cherry Creek Trail is paved and offers visitors a taste of the wide range of habitat that call Denver and its surrounding areas home.
After we end that part of trip at Franktown we will begin on dirt paths and roads most of the way to Colorado Springs. We go thru Castle Rock Canyon, Greenland Open Spaces, the Santa Fe trail and thru the Airforce academy to Colorado Springs along the monument river.
We will go thru rolling countrysides past some large ranches and beautiful homes. In the distance you can see some formations like Nemrick Butte, Corner Mountain and Rattlesnake Butte and the front range mountains.
We end our trip just before we get into the commercial areas of Colorado Springs but people can have the option of going a little further to end their trip at the Garden of the Gods.
The first half of the trip is slowly uphill and the second half is slightly downhill to Colorado springs.
- Bottled water
- Quality bicycle and helmet for extended rides
- Lunch included
This engaging endeavor offers a stunning path. As you journey, you will observe not just Denver and Colorado Springs, but also the awe-inspiring landscape nestled between these urban areas. The varied mountain shapes, the front range, rivers, and infinite green expanses, with the option to conclude at Garden of the Gods, all contribute to the experience.
Besides being a fantastic way to ensure your safety, 95% of the trip navigates through bike paths away from main roads. The remaining minor 5% traverses a sparingly frequented dirt pathway.
Covering 82 miles could seem quite challenging, but rest assured, there will be van assistance. We could advise skipping some of the less impressive stretches to shorten the distance a little. However, it’s not mandatory for anyone to complete the entire route. Everyone should strive to do their best and savour as much of the experience as they can:)
