- Baoding Mountain Carved Stone - We will pick up our travelers and drive to Dazu County, a small town in northwestern Chongqing, with our destination being the ancient rock carvings of Baoding. The history of Baoding carvings dates back 900 years and it is the largest and best-preserved collection of ancient stone sculptures, as well as the most renowned Buddhist holy site in southern China. In 1999, Baoding Carvings were inscribed on the World Heritage List by UNESCO. These statues were carved into cliff sides to facilitate display and worship, representing the pinnacle of ancient Chinese artistic and sculptural craftsmanship. We will embark on an immersive learning tour with our private guiding service. The car ride from downtown to Baoding will take approximately 1.5 hours, and the excursion inside will last 2 hours. All travelers will need to transfer to the internal shuttle bus and golf cart, which is mandatory for the purpose of “cultural relics preservation.” - Dazu County - Next, we will head to downtown Dazu to enjoy a typical local lunch. We will offer cuisine options, and our travelers can choose their preference. Lunch is on us. - Anyue Stone Carvings - After lunch, we will drive to Anyue, another small county near Dazu. This will be a pleasant ride with stunning countryside views. Our destination will be Pi-lu Cave, an ancient Buddhist cliffside carving hidden in the remote countryside of Sichuan Province. This site is contemporaneous with the Dazu carvings but showcases even greater innovation and carving skills. It remains largely unknown to the outside world due to its remote location, and the story behind it is still a mystery. Unlike the crowds at the Dazu carvings, only a few visitors come here. The admission fee is on us. The car ride will take 40 minutes, and the excursion will last another 40 minutes. - Chongqing - Finally, we will drive back to downtown Chongqing and drop off our travelers at their hotels or any specified location in downtown.

The Dazu Rock Carvings have consistently been a popular destination since being added to the UNESCO world heritage list. In contrast, the ancient carvings of the 900-year-old Hutou village, located nearby, receive scant attention due to its secluded position and lack of commercial development. This has resulted in a notable absence of trained tour guides for the area.
Our team has conducted extensive fieldwork, traveling the countryside, engaging with locals, and acquiring authentic narratives.

- For our travellers’ saefty, we’ll shift to Pilu Cave-s similarity nearby in stead of Hutou Village in rainy days. This village is still quite remote and a rainy slick road condition might be a potential safety concern. The alternative Pilu Cave is also an ancient rock carvings which is even bigger than Hutou village, the andmission fare will be included.

Quality time in Dazu :)) - If you want to explore places in Chongqing. I would recommend a private tour with Legend. You wont be regret!!! Legend is very friendly and knowledgable tour guide. You won't miss any highlights in Dazu. He is very talented at explanations. Always ready to answer all the questions we have. Strongly recommended.
