A visit to Amber Fort, located just outside the walled city, offers a stunning example of Rajput fort architecture. The afternoon includes a sightseeing tour of Jaipur, featuring the City Palace at its center, renowned for its Rajput architectural style. This complex houses a rare and rich collection of ornaments, arms, royal costumes, carpets, and decorative art objects, showcasing traditional Rajasthani art and architecture. Nearby, the Jantar Mantar, the largest of the five astronomical observatories built by Sawai Jai Singh-I, the founder of Jaipur, is another highlight. A photo stop at Hawa Mahal, or the Palace of Winds, reveals a four-story façade of pink sandstone, with its semi-octagonal and intricately honeycombed windows overlooking the main street of the old city. Built in 1799, it allowed veiled royal women to observe royal processions through its 593 stone screens without being seen by outsiders.
In the evening, a visit to the Birla Temple offers insight into the captivating religious life of Jaipur. This marble structure, constructed in 1985, features ornate statues, including one of Lakshmi (Goddess of Wealth and Beauty) and Narayan, dressed in vibrant robes, embodying a Hindu vision of divine luxury. Experience the Aarti Ceremony, a prayer ritual involving the lighting and waving of oil lamps to awaken and invoke the deity. Additionally, a photo stop at the Albert Hall is included. The day concludes with dinner with an Indian family, featuring a cooking class.
