Nearby, the Jantar Mantar, the largest of the five astronomical observatories built by Sawai Jai Singh-I, the founder of Jaipur, is another highlight. A photo stop at Hawa Mahal, or the Palace of Winds, reveals a four-story façade of pink sandstone, with its semi-octagonal and intricately honeycombed windows overlooking the main street of the old city.
