City Tour Perfect for Solo Traveler - Aloys was an excellent guide. He showed up on time to greet me at my hotel and was pleasant to navigate the city with. Even though it was a walking tour, there were moments when we were able to catch the public bus and other transportation for farther destinations, which was a nice relief and added bonus experience of local life in the city. Aloys was very knowledgeable about the city and made sure that I was safe and comfortable the whole time. We did stop at a nice local restaurant to eat lunch. I am not sure if the expectation was for me to cover the cost of both of our lunches, but the waitress put both of our meals on one bill and gave it to me to pay. Overall, I would recommend this tour to others in the future.

A day well spent - Our tour guide Aloys Malekela was the main reason we enjoyed our city tour. From the moment he came to pick us up in the morning up until he dropped us back, he was extremely kind and accommodating to our every need. He is so knowledgeable and knows the city and history like the back of his hand. We had a blast and a day we will never forget. We learned so much about Dar and made great use of our day. I recommend this city tour, especially if he’s your tour guide :)

Great guide = Great experience - I really recommend the walking tour in Daressalam with Aloys. By walking and using public transport, you get in touch with the local people and the reality of the city a lot better than by going by car. Aloys is very friendly and was looking after me very well the whole time so that I never felt unsafe. He also assisted me when I was trying to buy a local football jersey on the busy market. He even picked me up very far outside of the city and took care of me on my way back there by accompanying me.

Bagamoyo tour! - This is my second tour with Mr. Aloys! I took a taxi and met up with him in Bagamoyo. It’s about 2 hours taxi ride north from Dar. It’s an amazing place to visit for a day and to get away from the busy city life in Dar Es Salaam. Bagamoyo has super interesting history that dates back centuries and many archeological sites to visit. If you are interested in the East African slave trade history this place is a must visit for the historical value. Highly recommended. A must visit!

What an interesting experience !! - It was such a pleasure for me to find this tour! It was super interesting. From riding the local bus to the market of Kariakoo, and the fish market...among many other things that Mr. Aloys shown me. It was an eye opening experience for me to see how the local people live their everyday life in Dar Es Salaam. My guide Mr. Aloys is so kind, nice and very informative about the history of the city. I am a solo female traveler and didn’t feel unsafe when I am accompanied to walk around with Mr Aloys. I am so glad I found this interesting local tour, it’s definitely a great off the beaten path experience and I am glad I didn’t miss it!! Five star!

For The Adventurous Soul - This is definitely a tour for the adventurous soul. Aloys is prompt, knowledgeable and friendly. You should be aware of, and comfortable with, his guiding you around Dar-es-Salaam on public transport. This should not be confused with public transport in cities like NYC, London or Paris. These are mini buses that are often (very) crowded, hot and move erratically through traffic - and tuktuks (3 wheeled mini carts). It is a good amount of chaos. I *loved* (loved!) seeing the city this way but if you are looking for something more private and sedate, you may not. I recommend demure clothing out of respect for the local population and for your safety. As a woman traveling alone with him for a really long day, I felt very safe. We saw many, but not all, of the stops listed in the tour package (mostly due to time spent dealing with the buses). We walked through a few large markets, he was happy to stop at my request for brief shopping or conversations. He was an excellent guide at the national museum and translated for any local guides at our stops whose English was not vast. If you like a fly-by-night adventure, Aloys will make it happen for you.
