Highlights
  • Le Monument de la Renaissance Africaine - 52 meters high and made of copper, the monument represents a man with bulging muscles springing from the crater of one of the Mamelles hills. Shirtless, he carries a child on his left arm while wrapping the other, a woman. It is reached by a large staircase of 198 steps.

  • Mosque of the Divinity - The Mosque of Divinity, built in 1997, is a mosque located in Ouakam, Senegal. It is a structure with two minarets. The mosque provides a view of the Atlantic Ocean, as the mosque lies near the shore, at the Corniche-Ouest.

  • Sandaga Market - Sandaga market was built in 1935. Its architecture reminds the Arabian Sudanese style of Timbuktu in Mali. Its decoration is a mixture of Arabian and African styles with arabesques and geometrical drawings.

  • Presidential Palace - The Palace of the Republic, residence of the President of the Republic, is a historic manor located in the Plateau district of Dakar, capital city of Senegal. Built in 1902, the Palace used to be the official residence of the Governor General of French West Africa.

  • Marche Kermel - The Kermel market is a very beautiful building from 1860 - a beautiful round wrought iron and brick hall of Arabic inspiration - which was ravaged by fire in 1994, and rebuilt identically in 1997, classified as a historical monument. The large clock at the entrance to the market used to ring the closing bell at noon on the dot. At the Kermel market, one can find all the food products and is frequented by Westerners looking for the best products of the city since its creation

  • The Museum of Black Civilisations - Two objectives emerge for the museum:

  • To create a non-ethnographic museum, that is to say not devoted solely to primitive arts, and not commemorating the slave past of the populations of the continent.
  • Show the vitality of the entire African continent through “cultures and civilizations of the black worlds”.
  • Grand Mosque of Dakar - The Great Mosque of Dakar was built by French and Moroccan architects and was inaugurated in 1964 by the King of Morocco Hassan II who had financed its construction. The height of the minaret is 67 m. Richly decorated, both inside and outside

  • Marche Artisanal de Soumbedioune - Created in 1961, this village is a good place to get an idea of

what the artisans of the country produce. Gathered by professional category, the craftsmen exhibit a wide choice of sculpted works. There are also all types of leather goods (cow, snake, goat, crocodile) and jewelry.

Great 1/2 day in Dakar - Omar our guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We were picked up at the pier and shown the highlights of Dakar. We particularly appreciated being asked if we wanted to go to a crafts village, instead of being taken there. Would recommend this company

Decent Senegal tour - Ishmael was very knowledgeable about the city. He had lots of facts and information on Senegal. When Otherwise, I would not have been able to go to the top. I would recommend the service and the half day tour since it was informative and I would never have seen all those places on my own.

A great impression of Dakar in four hours and rich in information - Great to discover another West African country. Apart from being a nice and knowledgeable guide, Mr Amadou knew what additional information would be of interest to me.

Incredible day in Dakar! - We had an amazing tour! We learned so much about the city, the country and the culture. We really enjoyed all of the places we visited but especially the opportunity to visit some of the places we never would have seen or been able to go without our kind and gracious guide and driver. We saw a fishing community and artist community and learned more about their lives. My favorite part was standing on the western most tip of Africa. Dakar is a very large city and it is not possible to get around all by yourself or by walking. I highly recommend booking this tour!

An excellent tour - This tour was a wonderful introduction to Dakar. I visited for business and only had a short time for sightseeing. The tour guide, Mamadou, was accommodating to my last-minute booking! He was very knowledgeable about the area, the history and also very kind, patient, generous, and receptive to questions and conversation. Some highlights included a visit inside and tour of the African Renaissance monument, a local market, and a scenic drive through the city with several opportunities to stop and take in the sights. Overall I would recommend this 1/2 day tour to anyone visiting Dakar. It was fun and very interesting!
