The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by former Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and numerous high-ranking government officials.

- Lady Buddha - Perched on a hilltop by the sea, Lady Buddha is a 67-meter-tall statue located at Linh Ung Pagoda on the Son Tra Peninsula. Known as Tuong Phat Ba Quan Am in Vietnamese, or the Statue of the Goddess of Mercy, it is the tallest statue of its kind in the country. Lady Buddha serves as both a statue and a temple, with each of its 17 floors housing twenty-seven Buddha statues for worship. A 2-meter Great Buddha statue is placed in the head, leading locals to refer to it as Buddha in Buddha. On the first and 15th days of every lunar month, locals visit to pray and find peace of mind.
