Highlights
  • Nevado Ausangate - Our journey commences with a hotel pick-up. The collection time is set for around 3:30 am, heading south from Cusco towards Qollasuyo. En route, we’ll be graced with magnificent views of the Peruvian Andes and quaint villages, including Checacupe, noted for its colonial church and an Inca-based bridge. We’ll pass through several towns during our three-hour drive, such as Pitumarka and Chilca, before reaching Pampachiri, the starting point of our trek. Once in Pampachiri, our guide will lead us on a roughly four-hour climb to the mountains. As we ascend, we’ll witness the shifting weather patterns until we reach the “Vinicunca” or Rainbow Mountain. The hike will be accompanied by the region’s wildlife, including vizcachas, eagles, llamas, alpacas, and the occasional deer or puma. Along the way, we’ll marvel at the breathtaking landscapes and the ever-changing hues of the mountains, culminating in the sight of the Rainbow Mountain, a kaleidoscope of the colors we’ve seen throughout our journey.
