Highlights

Exploring the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

Sacred Valley - Taray lookout.
Our certified guide will introduce you to our first stop, showcasing a panoramic view of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, the snow-capped mountains, and the Willcamayu River. This is an ideal moment to capture memorable photos, while our guide provides insights about the location.

Pisac - Upon arrival at the archaeological site, our certified guide will commence the tour in Pisac. One of Pisac’s main attractions is the Inca ruins, perched on a hill overlooking the town. These ruins include agricultural terraces, residential areas, and ceremonial buildings, believed to have been built in the 15th century by the Inca emperor Pachacuti. Our guide will also take you to the market, held every Sunday, attracting vendors from across the region. Here, visitors can find a variety of traditional handicrafts, textiles, jewelry, and other products, and enjoy traditional Peruvian cuisine.

Maras - At the main attraction, our certified guide will provide general information about this unique site. The salt mines consist of thousands of small salt pools carved into the mountainside. These pools are filled with saltwater from a nearby natural spring, which evaporates under the sun, leaving behind crystallized salt. The salt is harvested by hand using traditional methods and sold in local markets.

The history of the salt mines dates back to pre-Inca times, and the methods of salt production have remained largely unchanged over the centuries. The salt from Maras is renowned for its high quality and unique flavor, used in many traditional Peruvian dishes.

Visitors to the Maras Salt Mines can take a guided tour, learn about the history and methods of salt production, and even participate in the salt harvesting process. The surrounding area is also known for its natural beauty, offering stunning views of the mountains and valley.

Moray - Our certified guide will explain this unique series of circular terraces that resemble an amphitheater, with concentric rings decreasing in size as they descend. The purpose of Moray remains unclear, but it is believed to have been used for agricultural experimentation and research by the Incas. The terraces create microclimates, with temperature differences of up to 15°C (27°F) between the top and bottom levels, allowing the Incas to study and cultivate different crops under varying conditions, enhancing their agricultural knowledge.

The site is set in a beautiful natural environment, with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Visitors can also explore nearby villages and enjoy traditional Peruvian food and culture. Overall, Moray is a fascinating archaeological site that showcases the advanced agricultural and engineering knowledge of the Incas.

Ollantaytambo - Our certified guide will provide insights into Ollantaytambo, a town in the Sacred Valley of Peru, about 72 kilometers (45 miles) northwest of Cusco. It is a significant archaeological site and a popular tourist destination due to its well-preserved Inca ruins and traditional Andean culture.

Ollantaytambo was once an important administrative and religious center for the Inca Empire. The ruins include a massive fortress and temple complex built with enormous stone blocks transported from distant locations. The site features steep terraces, stone walls, and water channels, serving both military and religious purposes.

Ollantaytambo is also known as the gateway to Machu Picchu, being the starting point for the famous Inca Trail trek to the ancient citadel. Many tourists visit Ollantaytambo to experience traditional Andean culture, including music, dance, and handicrafts.

Aguas Calientes - Our certified guide will meet you at the train station upon arrival, escort you to your designated hotel, and provide detailed information about the next day’s tour, including pick-up time, appropriate clothing, and what to bring. The guide will also recommend places to enjoy Peruvian cuisine.

Sunrise in Machu Picchu

Aguas Calientes - Known for its hot springs, Aguas Calientes offers visitors a chance to relax in natural thermal waters, believed to have healing properties, making it a popular way to unwind after exploring Machu Picchu.

In addition to the hot springs, Aguas Calientes has various accommodations, restaurants, and shops catering to tourists. Visitors can enjoy a range of dining options, from traditional Peruvian cuisine to international dishes, and shop for souvenirs and handicrafts.

Early in the morning, our certified guide will pick you up from your hotel to board the bus to Machu Picchu, a 30-minute journey to the main entrance.

Machu Picchu - Accompanied by our certified guide, we will embark on a 3-hour exploration of Machu Picchu. We will visit the upper platform for stunning photos and detailed explanations about the site, answering many questions about this magnificent place. Built by the Incas in the 15th century as a royal estate for Emperor Pachacuti, Machu Picchu comprises over 200 structures, including temples, palaces, and residences, all constructed from massive stone blocks without mortar.

Situated at an altitude of 2,430 meters (7,970 feet) above sea level, the citadel’s location and construction highlight the impressive engineering and architectural skills of the Incas. The site is surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty, with views of the surrounding mountains and the Urubamba River valley.

Our certified guide will also show you photographs taken in 1911 by Hiram Bingham.

Ollantaytambo - After the Machu Picchu tour, we will take the train back to Ollantaytambo and then transfer back to Cusco.

Cusco - Finally, after a remarkable experience, we will return to your hotel in Cusco.

Best Possible Tour Guide you can get in Peru!! - Jesus is quite frankly the best money myself and my partner spent in Peru. His kindness coupled with his vast passion and knowledge for the various cultures found in Peru were next to none. He went above and beyond to ensure my partner and I had an amazing trip to Machu Picchu. A lot of tour guides nowadays will try and rush through their tours, whereas Jesus spent every posible second with us explaining, laughing, and answering all posible questions we had. He speaks phenomenal english, and even provided additional suggestions on where to go on the rest of our trip in Peru. Muchos Gracias Jesus!

A perfect day! - I spent a wonderful day birding in the mountains with Jesus. It was a long day and I enjoyed ever minute of it. Jesus is extremely knowledgeable and professional. The birding was excellent! Jesus asking me in the morning if there were any birds I really wanted to see and I mentioned the Many-colored Rush Tyrant. As the sun was setting we hit one last spot and got a great look at one. It was an amazing end to a great day! In addition to the birding, I really enjoyed Jesus’ company and our conversation. I felt like I was birding with an old friend and I hope to return to Peru soon so we can do it again!
