Amazing bike ride, cool local company - Wonderful bike trail next to lake Dunstan! 100% would recommend going with nzbiketrails, high quality bikes and thoughtful service made this a highlight on our way through Wanaka. We went on a weekday which meant the floating burger joint was closed but less people on the trail made going over the narrow clip on sections of the trail much more enjoyable. Overall it took 3.5 hours from Cromwell to Clyde with a 20 min coffee break at the winery on the way. We were lucky enough to ride back on the shuttle with three folks from nzbiketentals including the owner, they shared lots of interesting history about the local area.

An Absolute Recommendation! An Unforgettable Experience with NZBIKETRAILS - Our experience with NZ Bike Trails was simply fantastic! From the very first moment, everything was impeccably organized. Dave is incredibly professional, friendly, and helpful – you immediately feel you’re in good hands. He took the time to ensure we felt comfortable, which made a huge difference for us as inexperienced mountain bikers.

Epic e-bike ride on the Lake Dunstan Cycleway - We had a blast with NZ Bike Trails! We rode the Lake Dunstan cycleway on e-bikes. The bikes worked great and were comfortable, Max was friendly and provided clear instructions, and he checked in with us early in the ride to make sure all was okay. The ride back to Cromwell in the van was comfortable and provided an opportunity to meet other travelers. Highly recommend this as a “must do” on South Island.

A great time on a Great Ride! - Max was an incredible guide. He demonstrated how to use the ebikes, and made sure we were all comfortable on them before we took off. He also explained the route we were taking with details that were easy to remember for people who weren't familiar with the area. The bikes were in great condition, and we had time to eat at the end of the trail before we got shuttled back. I'd definitely use NZ Bike Trails for any future rides, and recommend them to everyone! And that's not even taking into account what a beautiful and fun trail the Lake Dunstan Trail is! Incredible experience overall!

Highly recommend - We were so impressed with the professionalism of this company, and great organisation. The bikes were all ready and set up for us as per our instructions, the bikes are fairly new and in great condition. The instructions were great, nothing was a problem. Pick up at the other end was seemless, great commentary from Ian on the history of the area on the way home. Would highly recommend.

NZ bike trails Dunstan lake - Dunstan bike trail is a great experience. My wife and I certainly wouldn't recommend this route for children under 15 and you need very confident cycling skills, as there are multiple drops that would lead to serious injury (or the ultimate). For intermediate and fit cyclists this is a great route. The "Sinch" ebikes should allow those less fit to complete this 26 mile route from Cromwell to Clyde. There are several sharp switchbacks, blind turns and narrow sections often without barriers, and watch out for two way cycling, especially as you wont hear many bells or calls on blind points! That said, almost every rider we encountered was very courteous. I'm a regular road cyclist, and my wife has her own ebike, and we both felt confident on this trail, but be prepared to work hard especially when it's hot! Take at least 750ml of drinking water per person. There was a restaurant (Carrick, lovely cheese scones!) and the floating coffee stop but no other refreshments - these should enough for most. The NZ bike I had (named "Bingo") did suffer one easily resolved dropped chain, and gear indexing was out. Biggest problem I had riding "Bingo" was my seatpost was constantly dropping by anything between 25-75mm, and needed re-raising very frequently between about 8-25km, probably would benefit from a stem clean and some assembly fluid. All overcome on-route and seat clamp tension increased as much as I dared. Ian our driver was great, with loads of local information from our 08:30 Wanaka van pickup onwards. We returned by van and included the riverboat trip which was very informative and refreshing in the 32 deg C conditions (we think this was well worth the extra few $). We arrived back in Wanaka around 16:45. Thoroughly recommend this trip for anyone who likes outdoor activity and is a confident cyclist. Thanks to "nzbiketrails" for a very, very good value day when considering the transport, bikes, information and the optional boat trip!
