Near the tree-lined Cavtat harbor is the Rector’s Palace, a Renaissance mansion showcasing the manuscript collection of 19th-century scientist Baltazar Bogišić. This charming town is possibly the most famous place in the Konavle region, located just 18 km from Dubrovnik. Its best-kept secret is the old town center, which features many lovely cafés and restaurants. With a stunning waterfront lined with palm trees, Cavtat has been compared to Saint Tropez. It is not a destination for those seeking clubs and wild nights but rather a place to relax and recharge while enjoying beautiful scenery, food, and wine. Life moves slowly here, making it an ideal spot for a laid-back vacation.

• Konavle - Enjoy a relaxed 30-minute drive to the heart of the Konavle region, often referred to as the Croatian Tuscany.

• AR Atelier - Traditional silk production and the art of making Konavle embroidery are well-preserved ancient skills still alive in the Konavle region, the hinterland of Dubrovnik. These crafts connect us with Medieval identities and other European ethnic groups through textile skills. Across Europe, remnants of this cultural expression from preindustrial times can be found, but it is mostly preserved in the Konavle region. It’s not just about clothing; it’s about identification through the language of stitching. AR Atelier is an art shop led by academic painter Antonia Ruskovic Radonic, specializing in applied and decorative items created using techniques like hand-painted silk, pottery, and traditional Konavle embroidery.

• Sokol Grad - Sokol Tower is a defensive fortress of the Dubrovnik Republic, strategically located at the border with the former Ottoman Empire. Situated in the village of Dunave on a 25-meter high inaccessible rock, the tower has a history that predates the Republic’s possession. The area around the tower has been inhabited since prehistoric times. In Late Antiquity, it served as a defense tower for the Konavle region. The Dubrovnik Republic acquired it in the early 15th century and held it until 1667 when a devastating earthquake destroyed much of Dubrovnik. For the next 300 years, the tower fell into decay until the Society of Friends of Dubrovnik Antiquities renovated it and opened it to the public in 2013.

• Konavle - The mills and fulling mills of the Konavle region are located in the protected natural landscape of the Ljuta River. After consolidating power in the Konavle region in the late 15th century, the Dubrovnik Republic intensified agricultural development, particularly grain cultivation, leading to an increase in the number of mills. By the 19th century, there were 15 mills and fulling mills, divided into Upper and Lower Mills based on their location along the river. Thanks to the Society of Friends of Dubrovnik Antiquities, this important industrial monument has been renovated. Enjoy strolling the area or having a relaxed lunch in one of the authentic restaurants nearby.

• Malvasija Karaman Winery - Karaman Malvasia of Dubrovnik is a winner of the World of Malvasia competition and a prestigious Champion of the World with 92.25 points. You will be warmly welcomed in our wine room, where we will share documented stories from the first book about Malvasia in Croatia while you sip the nectar-like Malvasia wine. The book traces the wine’s history back to 1383 and the times of the Dubrovnik Republic. Our Malvasia is like a fairy poured into an exquisite wine essence. The wine room is set in a magnificent landscape surrounded by the Rector’s Palace and the Franciscan Monastery, both dating from the Dubrovnik Republic era, and the Malvasia vineyard, the mother of other Malvasia vineyards in Dubrovnik. We will walk through the vineyard, the starting point of our wine-making process. Visit us to experience the fragrances and tastes of the South. Our wines tell our story. Wine tasting is optional.

You will have the opportunity to visit Sokol Kula, a fortress established by Bosnian nobles, which came into the possession of the Dubrovnik Republic in 1420 through the sale of the Konavle area and its wineries.
