This tour has been created just for you. Be open to tasting local wines, and exploring rural Crete this tour it’s for you. We visit one family winery in the Heraklion area where we take a tour of the cellar of the winery, learn how different wines are made, and then taste up to 5 different indigenous varieties. We will visit a family-run olive mill, having an olive grove tour, olive mill tour, and olive oil tasting. Finally, we will drive to a small village and to an undisclosed location, not open to the public, and learn all about Raki Distillation.
At the end of the tour, we will get on our 4WD SUV and head to the mountain top at 850 meters to observe the Cretan fields from the top and the beautiful colors created on Mother Earth.

This excursion is designed for aficionados of nature and wine. Are you interested in understanding more about locally sourced goods such as Wine, Olive oil, and the renowned Raki? This excursion is tailored for you. Be prepared to sample local wines, and discover the rustic charm of Crete, this journey is meant for you. We pay a visit to one familial vineyard in the Heraklion region where we embark on a tour of the wine cellar, understand the production process for different wines, and consequently sample up to 5 different local varieties. We will make a stop at a family-owned olive mill, where we tour the olive groves, the mill, followed by a tasting session of olive oil. In conclusion, we will travel to a small settlement and to a secret site, not accessible to the general public, to gain knowledge about Raki Distillation.
Once we complete the tour, we will board our 4WD SUV and proceed to the peak of a mountain at 850 meters to appreciate the panoramic view of the Cretan fields and the splendid hues crafted by Mother Nature.

An authentic taste of Crete - We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. I can’t say enough about it. For those seeking a tasting of the most refined Cretan wines this may not be your tour. If you want an authentic taste of Crete that includes very good wine, olive oil, food, spirits and atmosphere with heart and soul this may be for you. Our driver/tour guide, Alex, was an outstanding host and by the end of the tour felt like a Brother to me.

Great taste of Crete! - We loved our tour of Crete with olive oil tastings and wineries and a spectacular view from a mountain. Our tour guide Alexander was very professional and accommodating. He took us to an extra Winery where we received a fabulous tour and wonderful samplings! It was a very memorable day!

I felt I saw the real Crete, and I know lot more about olives; how to make olive oil, wine making and raki. The tastes of the raki, wine and olives were first class and truly unique. A great day out. Olive tasting, wine tasting and Raki tasting with Alex! - The winery and Raki tour were amazing. The owners of the winery spent time with us reviewing the wine making and Raki distilling process. Our host, Alex, was very knowledgeable as well and made the entire day so enjoyable.
We were fortunate to be there while they were distilling the Raki and they were very generous with offering us freshly distilled Raki.
We also were able to fill a bottle with wine directly from the barrel, cork the bottle, seal the bottle with wax and put a personal label on the bottle. This bottle will be cherished for some time.

Unique family winery - Alex was a great guide who shared his own stories as an owner of olive trees about harvesting and olive mills. The winery and raki tour was outstanding -- with the owner and his family greeting us warmly and telling us the history of several generations of their family operating the winery. I've been on many winery tours and tastings and this one was unique. We tasted wine directly from barrels and saw historical photos and tools used by the older generation owners. And the pomegranate raki was absolutely the best raki I had while visiting Greece! Food (meze) at the winery was great as well. Going to the top of Mount Giouchtas to see Heraklion and the surrounding area was incredible -- fantastic views and gave us a better appreciation for the farming landscape as well. Great tour!

Very Enjoyable Day - Heraklion is a nice city but getting out into the countryside was so delightful. Our guide was very knowledgeable and helped us understand how Crete was ruled by many groups over the centuries. We loved the time spent walking through the olive grove and learning how family olives are milled into oil. The “tasting” at the Kleanthi Mill was FABULOUS! Learning about traditional wine making and raki distilling was fascinating too. We tasted almonds straight off the tree. After all the wine & raki tastings we took a long nap at the end of the day!
