Unforgettable Family Fun at Roatan’s West Bay Beach Break and Sanctuary
When I heard about the West Bay Beach Break and Sanctuary, I knew it was a must-visit for our family. With its perfect blend of beach relaxation and animal encounters, it promised a day of fun and adventure. Here’s how our experience unfolded.
A Warm Welcome to Roatan
As soon as we arrived in Coxen Hole, I could feel the excitement bubbling up inside me. I had heard so much about the West Bay Beach Break and Sanctuary and couldn’t wait to experience it firsthand. Our guide, Michelle, greeted us with a warm smile and a friendly wave. She was a local, fluent in both English and Spanish, and her knowledge of the island was impressive. I was thrilled to have her as our guide for the day.
The first stop on our adventure was the Monkey and Sloth Sanctuary. As a mom, I always look for activities that are both fun and educational for the kids, and this sanctuary was a perfect fit. The kids were absolutely enchanted by the playful monkeys and the gentle sloths. We spent a good amount of time there, taking in the sights and learning about these fascinating creatures. Michelle was incredibly accommodating, allowing us to explore at our own pace and answering all of our questions with patience and enthusiasm.
Beach Bliss at West Bay
After our delightful visit to the sanctuary, we headed to West Bay Beach, which is often hailed as the most beautiful beach on the island. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint! The crystal-clear waters and pristine white sands were a sight to behold. The kids immediately ran off to build sandcastles while my husband and I settled into our beach chairs, soaking up the sun and the stunning views.
The beach club offered a variety of amenities, including WiFi, restrooms, changing rooms, and showers, all free of charge. We decided to rent a couple of chairs and an umbrella for some extra comfort. The food and drinks at the beach club were delicious and reasonably priced, making it easy to enjoy a leisurely lunch by the sea. However, I did notice that the service was a bit slow, likely due to a shortage of staff. But with the sun shining and the waves gently lapping at the shore, it was hard to be anything but relaxed and content.
Capturing Memories
One of the highlights of our day was the opportunity to take some beautiful family photos. Michelle was more than happy to stop at the iconic Roatan sign and a breathtaking viewpoint overlooking the ocean. These moments were perfect for capturing memories that we would cherish for years to come.
As we made our way back to the port, I couldn’t help but reflect on what a wonderful day it had been. The combination of animal encounters, beach relaxation, and stunning scenery made for an unforgettable experience. Michelle’s friendly and knowledgeable guidance added an extra layer of enjoyment to the day, and I would highly recommend this excursion to any family looking for a fun and memorable adventure in Roatan.
