Should you wish to visit the market to explore the variety of vegetables and fruits, we can coordinate this with the chef. It’s a fantastic chance to observe local shopping habits and find out which fruits are currently in season, as our produce varies throughout the year. Get hands-on culinary training! The professional cook comes to your apartment or vacation rental and guides you through the process of preparing various dishes. She provides a menu from which you can select what you’d like to learn to cook - the best part being that you get to savor the dishes afterwards. This gives you a unique opportunity to learn directly from the chef about Roatan’s diverse food culture.
The local food options include baleadas, catrachas, Honduran tacos, pastelitos, machuca, and multiple seafood dishes. If you have any food allergies, feel free to let the chef know.
Please note that the cost of food is not included in the package. The chef can accompany you to the market or can handle the shopping herself - you simply reimburse her for the purchases. This experience offers a glimpse into how locals shop.
