Additional Information

Embark on a journey for half a day to uncover the lesser known treasures of the historic Delta, the ‘heart’ of California. Characterised by its complex network of waterways, canals and sloughs, quaint towns filled with history, over 50 islands, nationally recognised landmarks, nature reserves and plenty of agriculture, this hidden gem is conveniently located a short distance away from the Bay Area and Sacramento. This region hosts historical towns that sprouted up along the Sacramento River within the steamboat trade era. The well-known ‘Delta breeze’ serves as a natural air conditioner during the evening even on the warmest days, and its nutrient-rich soil is ideal for farming and viniculture. The Delta is both rich in resources and mystery, with its intricate draw bridges, renowned local establishments, and even a mansion rumoured to be haunted. Our ‘Taste of the Delta Tour’ will guide you through some local highlights that embody the history of pear farming, winemaking and the area’s fruitful bounty.

Wonderful Day Trip Adventure - This was a wonderful daytime drive adventure out to the Delta, South of Sacramento. All 3 destinations had something unique to offer in views, tasting, and information. Each place provided a brief education and background into their Ciders, Food, and Wine in a very comfortable and relaxed environment. It was a wonderful drive along the Sacramento River with hidden gem destinations. This was a great way to spend our 29th Wedding Anniversary.

Wonderful day - We had a fantastic day. The Hemly Cider was delicious and the tour was lots of fun, a beautiful family owned business. Then off to Julietta Winery, the lunch was fantastic and the roses are soooo beautiful! Next we went to Silt Winery for some wine paring. We are NOT wine connoisseurs, they really encouraged us to learn how wine tastes with the different parings. Such fun. Heather was a wonderful tour guide and the day was just what we had hoped for!

Yes. Yes. Yes! - Heather from SacTown Bites gave us a great experience on and agri-tourism tour of the many flavors the Delta has to offer. Her knowledge of the food scene and locally sourced drinks and dishes really added to our enjoyment. We left Silt Winery with three bottles and a great tasting. She made sure we were taken care of the entire time. The ambiance at Julietta was very chill. But our time at Hemly Cider Company was amazing. Their pear ciders are very tasty - AND they have non-alcoholic options. (Do NOT sleep on the Shrub Pear Cider. A mix of vinegar, pepper and cider. Wow. What a new taste.) Heather even arranged a tour with the owner. Great day. Great service. Thank you Heather and Cathy. We will spread the word.

A Great Day in the Delta with Heather! - I booked the "Taste of the Delta" tour for my friend's bachelorette party. Heather at SacTown Bites was wonderful to work with. She was easy to get a hold of and even helped me get a cake from Freeport Bakery to end the tour with. Heather was a wonderful wealth of knowledge, and it was like she was a part of the group :) She took pictures for us and sent them the next day for me to share with the ladies. The Cidery and Winery were wonderful, and the lunch was fantastic -- BEST CORNBREAD PUDDING I've ever had. I'm looking forward to booking another tour soon!

A great intro to the Delta area. - Our family had a wonderful day outing on the Taste of the Delta Tour! Heather was so warm and personable, and we learned a lot about this important agricultural area. We loved the scenic drive between stops and the very personal attention we got at the cidery tour and vineyard tasting. One tip would be to definitely opt for the drinks package—the ciders and wines were highlighted on this tour. A second tip for more history on the area would be to set some time beforehand for a stop at the Locke National Historic District which is very close to the start of the tour.
