Highlights
  • Powerscourt House & Gardens - Its renowned gardens, featuring Italian and Japanese styles, are home to a wide variety of flowers, plants, and trees.
Its pet cemetery, where the companion animals from the early 20th century are buried.
Its Triton Lake with a stunning central fountain, the Dolphin Pond, which is encircled by majestic trees,
The Pepperpot Tower, which you can climb for an excellent panoramic photograph. This was built to resemble a pepper grinder and is surrounded by cannons from various historical periods.
  • Glendalough Monastic Settlement - The journey begins in Dublin and heads to our first stop, Glendalough, which means “the valley of the two lakes” in Irish, a unique place that holds the history of St. Kevin, a monk who lived in a cave in the area and founded a monastery there in the 6th century.

You start the visit at the grand main entrance of the monastic complex, where our Spanish-speaking guide will narrate the entire history of the place, from St. Kevin’s experiences to the legends about King O´Toole, and you won’t miss the chance to touch the stone named after O´Toole because, it is said, merely touching it will absolve you of all your sins.

Next, you move on to the monastery, which has lost its roof over time but still retains a special charm, as well as ancient gravestones that are remarkable for a curious detail: the ages of those buried there often exceed 100 years.

  • Glendalough Upper Lake - Crossing a small bridge, you embark on a spectacular 1.5 km walk filled with large oaks and dense ferns, an area where several scenes from the award-winning series Vikings were filmed and which you will surely recognize.

The path leads you to the Upper Lake, one of the two glacial lakes preserved in Glendalough. You are greeted by a picturesque landscape of dark waters surrounded by green mountains that channel the stream that supplies water to the area.
Optional walk

  • Johnnie Fox’s - To end the day, we can’t forget about dining, and around 3:30 p.m., you have the option to do so at what might be the most peculiar yet hidden pub in all of Ireland, Johnnie Fox´s
Upon arrival, you immediately feel you’re in a unique place just by looking at its varied and original exterior decor.
And as you step inside, the feeling intensifies, as you notice thousands of vintage details on the walls and furniture, including a diverse collection of old signs. In the main dining room, you enjoy a hearty menu that features the authentic Irish stew, Irish Stew, slowly cooked over peat fire
    The meal is optional

To not lose - Very pleasant. Xavier was a fantastic guide. We learn a lot about life in the monastic town of Glendalough. The walk of about 1 hour through the mountains of Wiclow was invigorating. The gardens at Powerscourt are beautiful. Lunch was a pleasant surprise. A great opportunity to try traditional Irish stew.

Environment to stop, breathe and enjoy. - We enjoy one of the most beautiful natural environments in Ireland. Xavi was our guide, who accompanied us and described each of the corners we visited. He made a brief stop at Lake Guinness. Quite a spectacle. Thanks Xavi.

So as not to be left with the impression that Ireland is Dublin - Highly recommended!! If you are going to spend at least two days in Dublin, this is a perfect activity because it complements and expands the experience of visiting Dublin. We were with Margarita and we felt as if a friend had prepared the excursion for us. He came to pick us up, explained everything to us and made us understand and get to know Ireland and the Irish a little better in just under 8 hours. Thank you very much Margarita and congratulations Ireland in Spanish.

Bad organization - Mario, our guide, did not seem to be very experienced since he himself admitted that it was the third time he had done this route. You have to improve the timing a little to see things because in certain places we were there for a long time and in others for a short time. Management would also need to be improved, especially at lunch time when there was no fixed time to return to the bus and many missed the estimated time to return to the bus while others waited in the rain. In general, we perceive a bit of disorder and poor organization.
