Shankill Road - The tour proceeds to the Shankill area of Belfast City. During the “Troubles,” Shankill was a hub of loyalist paramilitary activity, where the modern Ulster Volunteer Force (UVF) and Ulster Defence Association (UDA) originated. Loyalist groups pledged allegiance to the British monarchy and aimed to maintain the partitioned six counties of Ireland, known as Northern Ireland, within the United Kingdom. Like the Falls area, Shankill is adorned with large murals celebrating historical events and honoring local figures. Throughout the 90-minute tour, guests have ample opportunities to capture stunning images of the world’s largest outdoor art gallery. With plenty of time spent outside the cab, the small group size ensures a personalized experience. The guide shares personal stories and folklore.

Falls Road - Arriving in Belfast City at 9:15 AM, there is a 20-minute break with access to bathroom facilities and refreshments. Groups of approximately five passengers will then be guided by a local driver to a black cab, beginning the tour of the world’s largest outdoor art gallery. This unique and captivating experience delves into the most recent conflict in Irish history, guided by locals with firsthand experience and intimate knowledge of the city’s recent political, social, and religious conflicts. Visit West Belfast’s most famous mural of Bobby Sands on Sinn Féin’s Falls Road building. The Falls area is predominantly Catholic Nationalist/Republican, featuring a collection of Irish republican and international political murals known as ‘The International Wall’ and the “Peace Wall.”
-
Peace Wall - As part of the Black Cab tour, the guide will visit the “Peace Wall or Walls.” Here, the reasons for their construction and benefits will be explained. These walls effectively separate the Roman Catholic community from the Protestant community. The first peace lines of “the Troubles” were built in 1969, following civil unrest. Initially temporary, they are now permanent structures, effectively limiting sectarian violence. The walls have grown wider, longer, and more numerous over the years, especially since the Good Friday Agreement of 1998. In Belfast, 75% of the 97 peace lines are in the north and west of the city, home to the poorer and more disadvantaged residents. Sadly, 67% of the deaths during the “Troubles” occurred within 500 meters of these walls.

Titanic Belfast - The drop-off for the Political Black Taxi tour will be outside the impressive Titanic Experience building, where restrooms and a café are available.
-
Antrim Coast Road - Touring the rugged Antrim coast, with its remote glens, sheer cliffs, small fishing villages, and pristine beaches, offers one of the world’s most stunning and unspoiled coastlines. The Giant’s Causeway’s basalt columns are world-famous, recently celebrated by the cast, directors, and producers of the TV series Game of Thrones. Many settings from the series can be seen and heard about, with ample opportunities for photography. The coastline is dotted with harbor fishing villages and small rural farming towns. On a clear day, the north Atlantic waters offer views of Scotland’s west coast. Enjoy!
-
Dunluce Castle - Dunluce Castle is an iconic historical site over 500 years old, located on the cliff edge of the north Atlantic, making it one of Europe’s most dramatic settings. The castle has been featured in many films, most recently in the TV series Game of Thrones (House of Greyjoy). Admission is included to explore the castle and grounds for 30 minutes. On a clear day, the coast of Scotland is visible. It’s a magical place for adventurous photographers and bird watchers.
-
Giant’s Causeway - Arrival at the Giant’s Causeway is at 2:30 PM, with lunch options available. Formed 60 million years ago by volcanic eruptions, the area features 40,000 interlocking basalt rock columns. Set off on the trail to the “Giant’s Boot,” supposedly lost by Finn, measuring just over 2 meters. Experience the magic by sitting in the famous “Wishing Chair,” a natural throne formed of perfectly shaped basalt columns. The “Camel,” a basaltic dyke formed from cooling lava, is the only steed capable of carrying Finn home. The Clifftop Trail offers a bird’s-eye view of the Giant’s Causeway, a unique way to explore the stunning north coast of Ireland and see across to Scotland. The Causeway has trails suitable for all ages, and a free train runs from the center to the coast.
