This is a lesser-known segment of the Wild Atlantic Way that possesses incredible beauty. From secretive stone wells to remarkable panoramas and fauna, the Toe Head peninsula is truly astonishing.
- Toe Head Coast Guard Station - We will hike about 7km at a pace that is very easy and fun for hikers of all abilities with lots of short stops for photos and stories.
We will pass by loads small named features with great history and super stories. Our hike includes a deserted famine village and the MĂłin Rua heathland famous for itâs wild orchids.
You will also see the spectacular Cnoc na nGabhar mountain, explore secret trails along the Wild Atlantic Way, visit one of the famous EIRE signs and an amazing Iron Age promontory fort with a secret know only to locals.
When we return, weâll end our time together on TrĂĄigh Liceach a beach that is also a battlefield where we share a couple of fascinating stories about the Battle of TrĂĄigh Liceach and WWI submarine activity around this coastline.
