- Palo Verde National Park - The Palo Verde National Park on the banks of the Rio Tempisque is one of the best wildlife and bird-watching spots in Costa Rica with around 15 different habitats thus being one of Costa Rica’s most biological diverse sites. Tempisque river has the largest concentration of crocodiles in our country.
The remote wetland sanctuary harbours one of Central Americas largest concentration of aquatic birds and is the most important migratory bird site of the Mesoamerican Pacific.

Situated on the shore of the Tempisque River, Palo Verde National Park is recognized as a critically significant wetland RAMSAR SITE in Costa Rica. This protected area, stretching over 30,000 acres, houses 15 unique ecosystems, establishing it as one of the greatest biodiversity hotspots in the nation.
With the highest concentration of crocodiles and water birds in Costa Rica, including species such as egrets, herons, hawks, eagles, amongst others totaling around 200.
A one and a half-hour boat or panga journey is available, equipped with a shielding roof for shade or protection from the rain.
A traditional meal is served at the close, consisting of rice and beans, a fresh green salad, choice of chicken or pork, homemade tortilla, along with a drink of fruit juice or a cup of coffee. All is cooked using a wood-fired oven.
