Costa Rico with Marco - Marco was our travel guide and provided an excellence experience. He made us feel safe while being in the country and made sure to keep a close eye on us while swimming. He spoke excellent English and knowledge about his country of which he is super proud of!

A great way to experience some of the highlights of Puerto Limon - Our tour was just four people and a driver and our guide Sergio. From the start everyone was very friendly and helpful. They checked what our priorities were for the tour and did everything to ensure we left happy. The canal trip was a highlight. We saw so many beautiful birds, flowers, monkeys and a sleepy sloth high in the trees. We also enjoyed the other stops at the chocolate shop, plant centre (so many interesting trees and plants to learn about). As an added bonus we stopped at Maratopia a small butterfly farm. It was so interesting. Our driver took great care of us and he also found sloths sleeping in trees for us on two separate occasions. A very personal and highly enjoyable experience. Thanks Sergio and George you made our day in Costa Rica a great one.

Great tour of the area - Alex (driver) met us promptly at port in a comfortable air conditioned van. We picked up Enrique, the tour guide, who was very knowledgeable and an excellent guide. We got a good appreciation of the area and had a good time.

Wonderful day in Limon - Linda and I were met by Risheylin (tour guide) and Gato (driver). They were terrific. We were the only people on the tour, and were treated to an extraordiary day touring Limon. Our first stop was on the canals, where our captain was able to show us sloths (both sleeping and moving) and any different types of birds. Unfortunately, we did not see any crocodiles. After returning to shore, we sampled coffee, cocoa and pineapple -- all very good. Then a tour of Limon and the city. Overall, a very enjoyable experience. 5 Stars.

Puerto Limon tour - We took a private tour with Syltravel off a cruise ship. The cruise ship excursions had sold out so we decided to see what tour we could pick up on the shore. There were several tour excursion companies on the quay side. We chose Syltravel because they offered us a tour which included the canal boat ride. There were seven of us in an air conditioned mini bus. We were all off the ship but didn’t know each other. Enrique was our guide. He was excellent. Going out of his way to tell us all about Costa Rica and even bought some samples of things to show us. Our diver (I think his name was George?) even found a sloth up in a tree on the road side. The canal boat ride was very good. We saw baby caiman, baby crocodiles, Howler monkeys, Sloth’s and numerous birds. I would definitely use Syltravel again and would ask specifically for Enrique.

Totally dissatisfied with this tour. - After doing our research on Trip Advisor we booked several independent trips, all were excellent except this one. On arrival told your lucky as no one else had booked the trip so we had taxi. The guide told us that his name was Johnny and that he would take care of us. We were supposed to be in an air conditioned bus with Wi-Fi instead we had a taxi which had limited air conditioning so very warm. In total the trip was supposed to be between four and six hours long, it actually took two hours and fifty minutes to complete the tour. This included almost one and a half hours on the boat tour which was excellent ( this had nothing to do with our guide Johnny as he just dropped us off at the river ) we had packed towels for our visit to a beautiful beach however this ended up as a two minute stop in the beach car par. The banana plantation was more like a garden centre and everything seemed very rushed as though our guide needed to be somewhere else. We complained about the tour and received seventy pounds back from the two hundred and thirty pounds we originally paid. Would NOT recommend this tour.

Buyer beware. - I’m glad this entire tour experience is in my rear view window. I was in Limon on Jan.23, but the tour was booked for Jan. 8, by the vendor which was the day it was booked. After repeated phone calls I was assured it would be honored for the day requested. On that day Syltravel said without an additional $100, they couldn’t do tour. I contacted Viator who basically said tough luck, despite me offering a screen shot of what I purchased. We did have a short tour with a taxi driver, but we’re out over $500. My advice is to buy tour in port. Or take the cruise lines tour. You will be assured of the correct date and if the boat doesn’t dock or tour is cancelled your money will be refunded. This experience has soured me from booking ahead of time through a third party.
