On the journey to Poás Volcano, there will be a stop at the Doka Coffee Plantation, where guests can enjoy a delightful breakfast and a guided tour of the plantation. Here, they will learn about both modern and traditional techniques used by experts to process the golden bean, producing some of Costa Rica’s finest coffee.
After the coffee tour, the journey continues to Poás Volcano. This majestic 2,708-meter (8,000 ft) active volcano offers not only a chance to marvel at its impressive crater and gas emissions but also an opportunity to learn about its phreatic and fumarolic activity, as well as the diverse ecosystems and lush vegetation within this stunning national park.
The tour will then proceed to La Paz Waterfalls. Upon arrival, guests will walk along a scenic path leading to various park attractions, including the aviary, the country’s largest butterfly observatory, the hummingbird gallery, the serpentarium, and exhibits featuring frogs, monkeys, and cats.
A delicious buffet-style lunch will be served in the heart of the rainforest. After lunch, there will be a walk to visit three magnificent natural waterfalls formed by the Rio La Paz. It is important to note that this walk takes place in the humid tropical forest area and includes steps in some sections of the paved path.
