Full day but intimate sightseeing tour. Zip lining, horseback riding, water slide, mud and hot springs. - Just know this is a full day. We got lucky as it was just our group of five, so it probably went quicker than if you were part of a larger group. We were picked up at the hotel next to ours at 6:45am. To begin, our guide took us down a path to see some monkeys as he knew we wanted to see some animals. The 7 ziplines felt very safe and the guides were very diligent. You slow down with a thick glove but you feel like your in control the entire time. Not too much hiking or walking in between lines. (other than to get to the first one) Our guide actually ziplined ahead of use. Your in some dense mountains so you can see some animals briefly. Next we did a 30 minute horseback ride around a dirt rocky road, just average for our group as we've been a few times before. We then changed into our bathing suits and did the water slide. You'll see the slide when walking up to the ziplines. A painted concrete tube through the jungle. I felt a little nervous to begin but very safe. Your kind of in a tube when you go down and they give you your option of speed. We got to go twice. If you like water slides, this one is long, fast and fun. Lunch was a buffet with plenty of options and was surprising very good. Some down time to take in the surroundings and relax. Next, to the volcanic mud and hot springs. You'll get into a large metal covered tractor seating attachment with padded seats which is pulled by a large John Deer tractor. (Hard to describe but other than very bumpy a little dusty and steep you feel safe) They were leveling the dirt road while we went down, so it's hard to know how smooth they get road after the rainy season. They give towels and the facility is like a spa in the jungle. You go into a sauna to open your pores, then rub on the volcanic mud then wait until it dries. (No mud baths if your a "SUITS" show person) Take a cold shower to rinse off the mud and spend some time relaxing in the 5 hot springs. The springs are similar to large concrete hot subs (fed by the volcanic waters) which flow into one another and are varying temperatures. We were here for about 2 hours. You can have a drink and relax between if you like. Very laid back. We were in the flamingo area so the trip there and back is around 2 hours Each Way. We are beach people so we wanted to get our sight seeing done and this was an excellent way to accomplish that. Our guide Jorge was unbelievable. Spoke good English and gave us so much info about Costa Rica throughout the entire day. He made the trip very special. That being said, if we were on a bus with 15/20 other people if may take away from how intimate it felt. We were very happy to see and experience everything. Not sure of the tipping protocol but I gave him and the driver $100 tip.

Fun excursion!! - We loved the variety of acitivities with the excursion. Zipline and hot springs were our favorites. JFYI, from Tamarindo the shuttle bus was approximately 3 hours one way, but we would do it again.

Highly recommend - This tour was very fun and educational. Our tour guide, Sofia, was knowledgeable, professional, energetic and funny. The transportation was comfortable and clean. A day before the tour, we were contacted to confirm our reservation and we were sent a reminder of everything that we needed to bring. I highly recommend this tour if you want to learn about Costa Rica and have a full day of outdoor activities.

Highly recommend - GREAT experience with this travel / excursion company! We booked through Edna at the Westin & she was a rockstar who helped us accommodate our party of 6!! Also, their prices were reasonable. The excursions themselves were fun & educational as the tour guides were knowledgeable & amicable. If looking to book and go on fun adventures, I recommend this company! The kids in our party had a BLAST!

Not to be missed - Rose Gomez at the Dreams Las Mareas Hotel recommended the Combo Day Trip. We were not disappointed. 3 of the 4 of us had a blast on the ziplining - not scary, just breathtaking, and the 4th of us walked on the suspension bridge across the canyon. It was a nice opportunity to question our guide about Costa Rican trees and wildlife. The horseback riding was fun, hadn't ridden a horse since childhood. The sauna and mudbaths were a blast. You were required to shower off the mud in cold water, but then you could soak in one of the divine hot spring pools. An unforgettable day.

Great Experience - The zipline felt very, very safe! One of the group members thought we would see more ie. rivers, view of the ocean etc. It is more about being up high and the thrill of soaring through the air. The operation at the zipline is a well oiled machine! Many groups are there at once, but are positioned to attend certain activities so no one is just standing around waiting to do something. The only thing we wished we would have done is to bring some cash (we left everything in the van) to tip the different Ticos giving the demonstrations. We enjoyed the sugar cane demonstration (how it was prepared in the past, not today!) and enjoyed tasting a piece of sugar cane and tasting sugar cane juice. The pottery demonstration was also interesting, but we brought no cash to purchase anything. We really enjoyed the hot springs, especially since we were able to go to the private side which wasn't anywhere near as crowded as the public side. The slide can be scary, but the water can be monitored to go slow, medium or fast. Fast is really fast!! Horseback riding is a typical trail horse ride. The horses are trained to follow one another so you really don't have to worry about them running off. Follow the instructions to turn them, slow them down and you will be fine. The website said to bring long pants, but there is no need for them. If you are a tentative rider, have your horse follow behind a horse and you won't have to worry about directing them. People were concerned about the horses being worked and looking "sad" (really!!!). The horses are well cared for and are groomed! These "cowboys" know what they are doing.

Exploring Paradise - My husband and I decided to book this tour ever though I've had back surgery. Our guide Cerro was very friendly (made everyone feel speical), knowledgeable (both history and current events) and made special accommodations for me! We highly recommend this tour company and decided to schedule the National Park Riverboat Tour also.
