  • Escape Surf School Newquay - Running Monday - Friday, during the School Holidays, let us look after the children and teach them how to surf on Towan beach, which is Newquays best beginner surfing beach.

The Surf Sessions are each 2 hours long and we’ll focus on having fun, catching lots of waves and giving your child expert surf coaching, whilst at the same time building their confidence, learning valuable ocean knowledge and making friends with other kids!
The price includes all equipment (surfboard and wetsuit) and all the children are able to use our secure changing rooms and showers for before and after the lesson.

The lessons are scheduled based on the tides, so the start times can vary, but you can schedule and choose your preferred dates and times, when booking.

For 2022 the availability for kids only surf lessons is inline with the following school holiday dates:

Easter Holidays: 11th April - 22nd April, Monday to Friday only
May Half Term: 30th May - 3rd June, Monday to Friday only
Summer Holidays: 11th July - 2nd September, Monday to Friday only
October Half Term: 24th - 28th October, Monday to Friday only

Additional Information

We proudly stand as Newquay’s top specialized Surf School. Our instructors are all skilled surfing mentors, fully certified beach lifeguards, and vetted through CRB / DBS checks. We provide exclusive surf teaching, guaranteeing a secure and professional setting for your children. Our lessons cater to kids of all skilled levels - our instructors modify their teaching methods according to the individual skills of the group. Each session accommodates a maximum of 6 children, between the ages of 8 to 13. As an added advantage, we offer premier facilities inclusive of heated changing rooms, warm showers, towels, hairdryers, and a restaurant/bar offering the most scenic view of the city!

Great lessons for the kids - Kids loved their lessons. Only four in their session and it was for 2 hrs so really good value for money. Well located right next to the beach and great changing and shower facilities too. We ate at belushis afterwards which was also lovely. Loved the professional pics we got too

Fab friendly lessons every time - My son has been having surf lessons with Escape Surf School for the past couple of years and he absolutely loves them, it’s always the highlight of his holiday. The staff are always very friendly and always remember him. Great for all levels. Would highly recommend!!

Children's Surf Lesson - These surf lessons were fantastic. I booked my daughter in for a one day lesson, she loved it so much that we booked her in again the following day. The two hour lessons were just the right amount of time and the group size perfect. A special mention to the instructor Lucy who had my daughter able to stand up on the board and surf independently on her second lesson. Great fun.

"Best Day EVER!!!" - My son's who are 9 and 12 had "the best day ever" learning to surf with Escape. The teachers went out of their way to make sure they had the best experience and caught as many waves as they could. Super patient, knowledgeable with helpful tips, fun and clearly love what they do. Great facilities, and best view in town for a coffee after for Mum and Dad. Thanks Mike and crew for an awesome day, the boys can't wait to get back for another go!

Would recommend to anyone - Second time for by daughter and her friend trying surf lessons, they really enjoyed it again. Their instructor was Phoebe and she is super friendly, really knows her stuff and very patient. Would recommend.

Absolutely Amazing - Wow! Absolutely amazing! Our 8 year old absolutely loved his sessions during our stay in Cornwall. The instructors were kind and patient and really encouraged the kids! All you could see from the beach watching was a sea full of giant smiles from the kids. *warning my son had so much fun he now wants to take up surfing and has been googling where he can surf near where we live! Thank you Escape we will be back to Cornwall and to see you!

Amazing experience! - My son really enjoyed his first surfing experience, so much so he wants to do it again on our next visit to Newquay. Really good valve for money too. The staff and instructors were lovely, would definitely recommend to anyone especially children new to surfing.

Fantastic coaching - I can’t speak highly enough of escape surf school, the whole team is fantastic. Glen, you have the patience of a saint with Evelynne and Robert. They learnt a lot and have come up on leaps and bounds under your instruction. The instruction was progressive over the 3 lessons (well worth booking more than one if you can) and really helped build their confidence. We were made to feel very welcome from the start and were remembered from our last visit. It was so good we have booked another lesson!

Great choice of surf school - Fantastic experience. I went with my 12 year old and 14 year old sons, almost complete beginners and in three lessons we were getting up consistently, and having a wonderful time. Great instructors, very friendly, supportive and well-organised.
