- Escape Surf School Newquay - Perfect for beginners looking for an introduction to surfing, or if you’ve surfed a few times already, then ideal to improve and build on your current experience and skill!\n\nFor students on their first lesson we will introduce all of the skills and techniques necessary to surf with control and safety. \nIf you have already surfed, then we will use this session to build on more advanced techniques, including paddling, turning and reading the ocean.\n\nFor all abilities, we spend approximately 20 minutes on the beach discussing, technique, skills etc. then the remaining time is spent in the ocean catching waves, with hands-on coaching from our surf coaches. \nOur innovative teaching method for beginners which involves holding the tail of the board, whilst the surfer gets to their feet. This helps stabilise the board until the surfer is standing, then they release and you enjoy the amazing feeling of riding the surf!\nFor those who have already surfed, we will focus on improving your technique and catching more waves.\nWe always split the groups based on your ability, so if you have already surfed, then you will join an improver group.

Additional Information
Ideal for novices seeking a basic surfing overview or a speedy surfing experience, this customizable 2-hour surfing class caters to your skill level.
If it’s your first lesson, your instructor will acquaint you with all the necessary skills and tactics for controlled and safe surfing. In no time, you’ll be stylishly riding the waves!
For those with prior surfing experience, this session can be used to enhance more complex techniques, such as paddling, turning, and ocean reading.
The venue for our meet-up is the Escape Surf School, positioned in Newquay with a stunning view of Towan beach, within the premises of Belushis / St Christophers Inn.
- After booking, Escape Surf School will contact you with the start (meeting) time (this can vary depending upon tides and conditions)
- Subject to favourable surf conditions. If cancelled due to poor conditions (ie dangerous), you will be given the option of an alternative date or full refund

Very high quality of instructions - Really enjoyed my surf lesson with Escape surf school. Friendly staff and the instructor Andrew was very encouraging, with a good balance of tips and technical advice. Heated changing rooms too. Highly recommended.

Awesome Dude! - I booked a 2 hrs lesson in the October 1/2 term holiday no problem. The people running it were super nice on arrival and as for the lesson it was A1.
Andy the coach took us all over to Fistral ,as Tower beach wasn’t as good, then encouraged us all individually into fair surfers.
He did a group teaching session then helped each one of us to hone any skill we might have.
Thank you to all involved.
My only complaint is it was all over way too quick Dude!🏄♀️🤟🏼🏄♂️🤟🏼🏄🤟🏼

Super Instructor! - Writing a review specifically to thank our instructor, Richard (Pigeon)! Super clear explanations on the beach, coupled with support of everyone in the group in the water. Extra supportive when I was getting frustrated with not getting the hang of it. By the end of the session I think I'd managed to stand up 5 or 6 times (with a little help being pushed off the waves), which I really thought was impossible at the start! Thank you, Pigeon! I could do with you as a life coach! 😊

This Surf school is brilliant 👍 - The Surf school is friendly and professional. The equipment is well maintained, the facilities are clean and tidy. I had Richard (aka Pigeon) as my instructor, what a lovely guy! Professional, yet funny, humble. With an hour he had me surfing like a pro! Thank you Richard, you are a legend.

Magical - Magical. Last year I had such good experience that I came back this year. Thank you so much all the instructors, Sam, Jack & Andrew. Everyone is super friendly, helpful and patient with the coaching. Good equipment and nice warm shower afterwards. The discount at the restaurant just above the surf school is cool. The group is not big, which is amazing during the busy summer & bank holiday. I will definitely come back again next year.

Great way to begin catching waves! - Two great 2 hr sessions on Towan Beach. Our two families had great instructors Henry and Fin for our beginner lessons and all of us managed to stand up on the boards. The waves weren’t big but that was the luck of the weather so we could practice the technique. Instruction was clear and precise - with help catching waves. The Six of us really thought it was great - the kids did much better than the adults!
Also good to have the photographer there to capture some classic moments!

Unreal - The best thing I did while I visited Newquay, me and my partner had Jake and he was an amazing instructor and answered every ridiculous question we had, I will definitely be doing more lessons when I return.

Fantastic surf school. - Fantastic surf school. Friendly staff and knowledgeable, encouraging coaches. Well equipped, the warm showers after are a bonus. This is my son's 4th time having a lesson and I'm sure we'll be back again.
