Among the mountains of Pindos and Antichasia rise the rocks of Meteora, the most important monastic city after Mount Athos.

It seems that the first hermits settled at the cavities of the rocks during the 11th-12th century seeking spiritual redemption. Here, a lot of people continue to come looking for spiritual calm and peace. The impressive landscape creates awe to the visitors, while thanks to its unique character Meteora is included in the World Heritage List of UNESCO.

A must guided tour to a very special place - A very well organised visit to Meteora. A long day but well worth it.Unfortunately the coach developed a technical problem on the return journey but this was handled professionally by the guide and driver and we were soon on our way back to Corfu.Well done to your team.

Corfu - The island is beautiful the people are very friendly. Buses are very cheap but like everywhere at the moment food and drink is on the increase.

Must see! - This is something that cannot be captured by pictures. It is like saying the Grand Canyon is breathtaking. Until you see it for yourself you cannot begin to capture the scope and sheer magnitude of these natural monoliths which are home to beautiful monasteries.

Wow, unforgettable experience - Meteora and its history, monasteries built atop vertical peaks with no access whatsoever. Constructed by the 14th century and before that the monks lived in caves to hide from the Turkish attacks (9th century). This was in my bucket list and for my surprise my daughter and teen grandchildren did want to come to visit this with me and we all enjoyed and were amazed by Meteora, how monks and material were rope harnessed to get on the top of the peaks or by movable ladders, to construct and avoid Turkish to access the monasteries. It is also amazing the paintings, incredible how they managed to do all this. I always wonder how we have such wonders made by men when no technology or equipment were available. It seems that determination, hard work and good leadership pays off.

Excellent given the time restraints - Wonderful place to visit and very interesting, guides were very knowledgeable and engaging. We visited from Corfu and there is a lot of travelling involved approx 4.5 hours each way, so understandably your time is limited at Meteora, we managed to visit 2 monasteries and have lunch in the town, to fully appreciate the area and visit more of the monasteries I would recommend 2 day trip. There are a lot of steps to climb so may be a problem for people with mobility issues.
