Additional Information

The Hidden Waterfalls Tour has this name for a good reason. An experience that is truly off the beaten track, we estimate that less than 300 travelers have ever visited this undiscovered part of El Salvador.

Your tour guide will be clearing a path with his machete as he/she stops to teach you about the medicinal and edible plants that the local people still use to this day. Then we will arrive at the first of multiple waterfall jumps and naturally carved rockslides for you to enjoy.

This tour has something for everyone and should be the number 1 thing on your itinerary when visiting El Salvador.

Location
COMIDA A LA VISTA Y PUPUSERIA.
Right on the corner as you enter Ataco, we will meet here for a delicious breakfast.

This is a truly authentic... - This is a truly authentic adventure untouched by western life or the tyranny of safety. Not for the faint of heart. You need to be comfortable with hiking and traversing a path and trust your guides. These are highly experienced guides that made me feel comfortable the entire trip. 100% worth it. Beautiful nature, educational, excellent waterfalls and lots of swimming.

Amazing tour off the beaten path! - This tour was incredible! William is an amazing guide with so much knowledge about the local area, and he is a truly amazing person (do yourself a favor and ask him about how he got started giving tours and how he founded El Salvatours!). This was my favorite experience during my trip -- very special and off the beaten bath (you will so no other tourists or even locals). I spoke Spanish with William throughout the tour, so I can't comment on doing the tour without knowing Spanish (though I am sure it would be fine -- you might just not learn as much about the plants you see). The tour started with a quick local breakfast before heading into the forest -- after about a 30-45 minute drive, we began hiking. Along the hike William taught me about the local plants and we even tasted some of the edible ones! We got to a river and did a series of jumps of different heights from various waterfalls as we progressed down the river -- these were awesome! A bit adrenaline-inducing, but not too bad and if they are too scary, there is always an option to hike down instead, or in some cases jump from a lower point. We did an easy rappel down one waterfall as well. Near the end we hiked down a 180+ foot waterfall and then did some jumps from the side (the highest is about 30ft, but there are lower options as well) and took a break for some swimming and snacks (fresh fruit, guacamole) before hiking back. The hike back was actually a bit strenuous as you are going uphill for about an hour (or longer -- we were moving pretty fast). You could always take it slower though -- you won't be rushed. The hiking both directions just is best for people in relatively good shape as it is quite steep. The truck ride back was about an hour and the road was a fair bit rougher for a good chunk of it. Nothing too bad, but significantly rougher than the way into the forest! Your shoes will get soaked as you will wear them in the water, so bring water shoes if you have them or just be prepared to have very wet shoes you'll have to dry out! I wore hiking pants with a bathing suit underneath which I would recommend. It is mostly shaded, but I'd still bring sunscreen. I had bug spray, but didn't need it. Bring a bunch of water (2 liters should do it). Overall, I highly recommend this tour. If you want a bit of a thrill, to learn about the local plants and wildlife, and get some swimming in, you will love this tour. It's nothing fancy, but it is genuinely so fun, and William is an amazing guide.

The best tour in El Salvador - You are looking for a fun experience book a tour with Elsalvatours. William uno and Edwin were our guides for the Hidden Waterfalls and they make us feel like family instantly. Very knowlageable about the region and the plants. We jumped several waterfalls, rappel and slide down some natural slide. If you decide to do this trip you wont regret it! Aline and Jeremie from Canada

AMAZING - This was the highlight of our trip to El Salvador! The tour operators were extremely responsive and helpful via whatsapp. It definitely is for adrenaline junkies and could feel a bit dangerous at parts but that makes it! The food provided was amazing and the guides were so helpful. Edwin was really knowledgeable and made us feel safe the entire time!

Highlight of El Salvador - This tour was easily one of our highlights in El Salvador, we loved having an exclusive trip to El Imposible national Park, William was wonderful and we had a lot of fun doing (optional) jumps, rock slides and learned lots of new things. Unfortunately it rained a lot while we were doing it but it didn't take away from the experience, and we would both love to do this again one day!! Thanks - Caitlin & Chris

Hidden Waterfalls with Guides William and Edwin - This tour is some of the best things that we have done since we are travelling. Wonderful nature, super friendly and lovely guides. The breakfast and lunch were amazing. It was complete gorgeous. In some parts it was difficult but we could manage everything very well. However its in my mind very important that everyone who want to do this andventure hike, has experience in climbing and also hiking. Because this part where we were abseiled is whithout experience really dangerous i think. The Guides, William and Edwin, were really professional and safety supported us very great 🤗 Thats some honestly words from us and we would recommended this tour sure, but only for persons they are sporty and fit for this andventure like this.

One of the best tours in the world! - When living in El Salvador I did this waterfall tour in Parque National Imposible in El Salvador with William, and it was a fantastic experience. William is a very knowledgeable guide who knows a lot about the flora and fauna of the park and he is very friendly. We were picked up in a pickup truck and taken to the park by William. During the hike, he explained everything we needed to know about the various plants and animals we saw along the way. The views were simply breathtaking and it was great to be out in nature. During the hike you reach a bunch of waterfalls where you can jump off. We had the opportunity to swim and cool off, which was a really refreshing experience. William made sure we were safe and pointed out where we needed to be careful. We have known William for a few years now, and with his kindness he on of the best guides I ever had in my life. He ensures that everyone has a great time and that everyone is safe and happy. If you are looking for a great experience in El Salvador, I would definitely recommend this tour. Parque National Imposible is a beautiful place and William is an excellent guide.

The most fun tour I’ve ever been on! - My boyfriend and I went with another small group and it was the tour of a lifetime! The views were breathtaking, the waterfall jumps were so much fun, and the guides were friendly, knowledgeable, and patient! I was worried I’d have trouble with not being able to speak any Spanish, but William (our guide) was wonderful and translated everything beautifully :) Highly recommend!!! GO!! 😊
